The CMH Tool Discovery:
Introduction and Summary
Several companies are now offering genealogy tests (for testing distant family relationships). These genealogy tests use the same techniques of DNA testing that are also widely used in the courts (for paternity testing and for identity testing). A good example is FamilyTreeDNA.com.

The scientific discovery of the Cohanim Modal Haplotype was made by using these genealogy tests upon sample populations of

Jewish Priests. This was done in a controlled and scientific way, and the results were published in scientific journals.
