Character Creation Process

All characters within HRM by Night must create a character sheet. All characters must be from Vampire: the Masquerade Core books. Only one character per typist allowed, no exceptions. There are many realms to role-play in if you feel the need to have multiple characters. The completed character sheet must be submitted to Storyteller_HRM@hotmail.com for acceptance. No one, except the storyteller, will have access to these sheets. All character start at 13th generation, during the character creation process one may decide to spend points to increase the generation level upward, according to the rules in the Vampire the Masquerade books. The exception to this rule occurs only when one is embraced IC. When one is embraced the character starts one generation higher than their sire. They may not spend any points on raising their generation any lower. When creating a new character, it would help the storyteller if you use two different colors to indicate the normal points spent while creating your character and the freebie points you use at the end of the process. I suggest black and red. When your character has been accepted you can change these all to black.

During the first month of building HRM by Night, the position of clan elders will be filled. As they are being filled, the Clan elder position will be delisted as an available choice. Email Storyteller_hrm@hotmail.com early to state your intention in becoming a specific clan elder. They will be granted as a first come first served basis (email time and dates will be used if two arrive at the same time. Remember some clans have membership in more than one sect, be specific which clan, sect city you wish to be elder, and if you have a second choice.)

The position of clan elder are to be created using Vampire the Masquerade rules, however the points used in the creation process and freebie points will be elevated to reflect the needed experience of being an elder. No character will be allowed to start lower than 6th generation during this process. To be an elder of a clan one must have access to both the core rule books and the clan book. If one is to be an elder of a clan, one must know how to play that clan as well as the rules of that clan.

This system will ensure everyone starts with the same advantages and disadvantages. All elders will start with the same points to be spent. Since everyone will be on the same playing field, no power characters will be in play. Vampire: the Masquerade is a good system which even by using all the rules allows for good creative role-playing and storytelling. To have a power character does not show the ability of being a good role-player.

The character sheets for the individual clans may be downloaded from White Wolf Characters Sheets. I have found changing them into jpg helps in filling in the dots and adding in the Disciplines. If you are unable to make this change or need help in the character create process, email Storyteller_hrm@hotmail.com .

Experience points will be awarded at the end of each week, 1/2 point per 4 hours played within a 24 hour period. These experience points will be the responsibility of the Clan elder to monitor. If there are any questions of illegality, the players may be asked to provide proof. Only role-play within our realm will be counted towards experience. Once a character receives enough experience they may wish at anytime to increase their skills/abilities or disciplines. Remember, one can not increase a discipline if one has not learned, practiced or used that discipline. The same would hold true for other skills and abilities. If a character has role-played especially well in a situation, their elder can bring the actions to the council to award an extra point or two.
