This is a standard ammo box cache. It is a nice walk on a path through the mangrove, Wilma has made the trail very challeging, the walk is a little over a half mile. Bug repellent is a good idea for mosquitoes. Trail Head coordinates N 25 59.274 W 081 43.152

This is my first cache placement, hope you find the walk enjoyable.

Found about 75 feet from where the GPS took us. After making a few large circles around the area we found it, but could not get into it (rusted and the handle was broken).

Tried this one in shorts and docksiders. That's fine for most of the trail. However, there is significant deadfall the last 300 feet, so we decided not to try and bushwhack through it. Be prepared to bust some brush if you're going to approach this one from down the trail.

Yay! My 250th cache!

Decided on the Lone Pine cache because I was out a-LONE today and was PINE-ing for my Lemming hiking buddies: U4EA, Wethiker, Flossmoor, Wandering Glider and TinSparrow. I definitely missed you guys out on the trail today...so this cache is dedicated to you!

Now back to the cache. I truly had a tough time finding this thing today and spent over an hour searching. My GPS kept taking me to a very cool hiding spot 57 feet into the mangroves. Over and over again. I finally gave up and started combing the area within a 100 foot radius. I knew it was out here because it had just been logged by NCPanther. Finally found the thing no where near where GPS was taking me. Then I logged on today and see that the coords have been updated...perhaps I was just unlucky to search in between coord updates.

The good news is that I carry a Leatherman in my backpack so I was able to open it with pliers! Took a horned toad and left an army man. Thank you for the #250 and the adventure!

Note about the trail: Definitely some hurricane damage but the trail is quite passable. Just the last several hundred feet require some high stepping and low ducking...but overall is still a good trail. Come on out!

The last 100 meters are a bear, lots of blow-down blocking the way. Had to search around for the cache. Finally found it floating in the water. It's rusted shut. Too bad, this was my 50th find and I had hoped to place some nice goodies. Thanks for a good hunt anyway.
