Welcome to the Cyber Modelling Competition information page.

The idea for this competition comes from the GXG group in Japan which features experienced modellers who come together every month to showcase their work in a tournament using a recent Bandai HGUC model kit.

Like the GXG group, CMC too is all for the fun of this hobby and does no a real prize, except a sense of pride for the skills of ones work being recognized. The idea is to modelling share experience, promote the hobby and to motivate some of us to actually finish something once in a while. :)

There will be a theme / selected topic for each competition later on and the competiton is open to anyone who is interested. A selected number of finalists will be chosen by a community based on a couple of categories such as artistic, creativity, modelling skills, etc...  The final winner will be decided by the combine voting from the judges on the community, as well as visitors to the hosting site.

The submission deadline for 1st competition is January 25, 2002 and the theme is Bandai HGUC model.

Please inform us if you are interested to enter your model or become a member of the CMC community ?

Please email all comments and suggestions to hugedom@yahoo.ca .

Please also read the competition requirements before entering (read - Q&A4 - Rules and regulation requirments ?).

A4. Rules and regulation requirements ?

On top of the requirements needed before submitting (read A3 - How can I enter the competition ?), the following regulations must be obeyed before acceptance into the competition:

1) The entry model must be completely constructed by you and only one entry per person per competition is allowed;

2) Proof of model pictures ownership must be available when requested;

3) The pictures must be original and not be altered by any means (such as photo touch ups with a computer or airbrushed by hand);

4) By submitting your model pictures to CMC (Cyber Modeling Competition) you are agreeing to and granting CMC the right to:
i)  Post on the CMC website and display the submitted images and text for an indeterminate amount of time;
ii) Crop or resize you original submitted images.

A5. I don't have a good camera / scanner ?

A few good and clear photos of your model would give you an advantage, therefore finding access to a good camera / scanner is highly recommended. You can try asking your family, relatives and friends for access.  Places such as school, local photography / hobby club, camera / print shop may prove access to a good camera / scanner for free or at small charge.

Note: For the long run, you may want to invest on a good camera for close up photography. A cheap option is to buy a normal manual 35mm camera with a close up filter at you local second hand / pawn shop, etc...

A6. I don't know how to take good pictures of my model ?

Below are some links on scale model photography, the should help you to learn more about the techniques and choosing a camera and other tools, etc...

A7. Future plans ?

Since CMC is mostly based on the GXG HUGC competition, we would like to see it being run in a more similar fashion as time goes on.  This include procedures such as to have a competition more often; the competition be limited to a smaller group of more experienced modeller; the hosting of the competition be done by different member every time; a model prize to the winner of the contest from future sponsors or by a small donation in the form of an entry fee, etc...

A8. Why only Gundam / HGUC/ Why not with just one type model ?

Since this is the first trial, by limiting the modelling area too much or too little, it may create problems.  So, we would like to see the first competition to stick to HGUC, at least for now.  As time progresses, we would like to see the competition to be more specific and be with one model / theme per competition.

A9. Are there any prizes ?

 No.  However, if the turn out is positive for the first few run, we maybe able to request donations from sponsors and contestants in the form of a small entry fee, for future competition.

A10. Judges on the community ? / Community member sign up ?

For now, the judges are volunteers that have some modelling experience and willingness to take on some responsibilities, such as helping with the judging progress, setting up this site and attending online meeting, etc...

To sign up, please send me an email with your name, email, general info about you and yrs. of modelling experiences, etc..., a link to pictures of your work / home page would be a plus. Please also let me know if you have any web programming or computer graphic skills and such.

Current judges on the community are listed at the bottom of the page.
