Healthy Fast Meal Staples
IN THE FRIDGE
Cheese:
Parmesan, jack, cheddar, feta, blue, low fat (Laughing Cow, farmer's, cottage, mozzarella)
Low fat yogurt:
plain and fruit
Low fat or skim milk, powdered buttermilk
Eggs
Fruit and vegetable juices, lemon and lime juice
Fresh fruits in season
Vegetables:
celery, peppers, carrots, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, broccoli, lettuce, cabbage
Condiments:
horseradish, salsa, mustards, ketchup, light mayonnaise, light sour cream
purchased pesto, sun-dried tomatoes, pre-chopped garlic, roasted red peppers (packed in a jar)
IN THE BREAD BOX:
whole wheat, French, pita bread
bagels, rolls, muffins, English muffins
crackers, pretzels, breadsticks
IN THE FREEZER:
frozen fruits, vegetables, juices
lean meat, poultry, fish, deli meats

low sodium soy, teriyaki, spaghetti sauce (low fat/low sodium)
oil:
canola, olive, sesame, cooking spray
vinegar's, broth, dry sherry, wine
herbs and spices:
cayenne, curry, dill weed, garlic pepper, garlic powder, ginger, lemon pepper, mint, oregano, rosemary, thyme
canned foods: (All low sodium when possible)
fruits, olives, green Chile's, water chestnuts, tomatoes, variety of beans, artichoke hearts, evaporated skim milk, soup, tuna, shellfish
