Memories of Drama
Thanks for reading this page. Here, is my story:
I have done many dramas in my school(C N Vidyalaya)life.
That was a time between 5th to 7th standard. I don't remember much about those dramas.
After that I did a Sanskrit drama in 11th standard. I was "Aswathama" - a character
in "Mahabharat". My role was aggressive and I did a very good job in it.
And after that I started doing dramas from the first year of engineering when I met
Jay Ruparel. He was with a great team of people who were all involved in Gujarati drama
at a professional level.
In first year of my college life,
I performed a drama named "Ek Tipu Suraj Nu"(A drop of Sun) - which became a
big hit in 33 dramas in Gujarat State Drama Competition arranged
by Gujarat Samachar and INT(Indian National Theater)- We got 3rd
rank in the competition and Jay Ruparel got prize for 2nd/3rd
best actor. After the competiton, we also did a commercial performance of it.
That was the first time experience of professional drama at a Gujarat state
level, but I was always confident for stage performance wether its professional or not.
I am thankful to Jay and his team - Ashish Kakkad, Sidhharth
(A professor in HA Commerce),Saumya Joshi(An English Professor in HK Arts) etc.
After the first year we performed "Brahma Latka
Kare"(The Brahma(Hindu God) is dancing) and we entered in final, but because of one girl's mistake
- we didn't get the prize in final. In that drama, Japan Mehta,Jignesh, Niashadh, Jay,a nurse-
nice muslim girl were with us.
And, in my final year of engineering we performed
"Saranama Vagarnu Mot"(The Death without Address) - directed by me with help of my friend
Kavin Doshi & Naishadh Gadani. I am thankful to "Ikbal" who did lighting for us
without any charge. You should see the drama of "Ikbal" - "Shadow Man" - which got first
prize in drama competition that year...with the music of "Music for Romance" - I never
forget this drama.
I really miss "Drama" after my college life in engg..and I always
wonder about many people remembering me as a "Shantilal"....which
was a role in my first drama -"Ek Tipu Suraj Nu"(A drop of Sun).
A Group photo of our drama- "Saranama Vagarnu Mot" (The Death without Address)
I was Rohit Pandya in that drama with my wife-Aarti Pandya(one and only nice
girl in the photo) who was "Anisha" - a muslim girl-and the most charming, beautiful
girl in our college. I was really fortunate to be her husband in the drama!!!!!!!!!
Okay.....This is a little story of my drama experience.....
I hope, the show will continue in my life.....becuz for every actor - "Show must go on"!!!!!!
