Membership
HVSC is open to anyone who catches the bug to fly gliders. We have several membership programs. Founding Full Flying Member: The initiation fee is $2000, payable over 2 years. It buys you part ownership of the gliders and is refunded if you decide to leave the club. If the club is dissolved you will receive to $2000 back. Full and Student Member: The initiation fee is $600, payable over 2 years. It is non-refundable. There are no age requirements to be a Founding or Full member in HVSC. You can already be a licensed glider pilot or student pilot. All pilots must meet USA FAA flight requirements. Please see the “Pilot Guidelines”. As a student pilot you can join HVSC when you begin the solo stage of your flight training. You will transition from the 2-place trainer into the HVSC SGS-1-26 single seat glider. If you are already a licensed glider pilot you will be welcomed after demonstrating your safe flying ability. All members also pay an annual maintenance fee to cover the recurring cost of insurance, tie downs at the airport and general maintenance. For 2005 it is $400 per member. The board may waive the maintenance fee partially or fully on an individually basis in exchange for helping to maintaining gliders and GOALS
HVSC's goal is to offer an atmosphere of fun and excitement to anyone who is interested in aviation, young and old alike. With the correct training and supervision soaring can be a safe and exhilarating sport. After all, a person can learn to fly a glider before they can drive a car! AFFILIATIONS
HVSC is a chapter member of the Soaring Society of America, an organization developed in 1932 to foster and promote all phases of soaring, both nationally and internationally. There are currently over 16,000 members from around the world. |
