El largo varía entre 46-62 milímetros. Caracteres sexuales secundarios presentes, con significativas diferencias en el tamaño; garganta más oscura en el macho y presencia de pigmentaciones queratinosas en el primero y segundo dedo de la mano. La distribución varía desde Lautaro y Temuco hasta el sur de Puerto Montt y Chiloé. Las formas sureñas viven en los bosques de Nothofagus, bajo los troncos caídos, las piedras y la hojarasca. No se conocen detalles sobre su reproducción. Su distribución ecológica va desde zonas mediterraneas a oceánicas, encontrándose entre los 200-800 m.s.n.m.
