"Well, it if isn't Kacy, the Star," she said. |
"I'm not a star anymore. I'm a normal girl, like you," Kacy said. |
"No you aren't. You're Kacy the Star," another girl said. |
"Then why don't I look like a star?" Kacy asked. |
Nobody answered. They just went on with their game. Kacy felt mad, but there were still other girls who could be her friend. |
Next, Kacy came upon three girls who were at an ice cream stand. They all ordered chocolate ice cream, Kacy's favorite. Kacy licked her lips and pulled out a five dollar bill. "Chocolate ice cream with pecans," the last girl said. |
Kacy hated pecans. They tasted like old mud to her. But to fit in, Kacy ordered chocolate ice cream with pecans too. Then she asked the girls if she could join them. |
"Not Kacy the Star!" the exclaimed. |
The three girls left Kacy standing there. |
Kacy felt very sad. "I can't make friends, and I hate pecans! What am I supposed to do?" Kacy asked herself. She sat down on a step and cried. |
"I love pecans," a voice said from up above Kacy. |
Kacy sat up and right in front of her was another little girl. This girl had on striped pants and a blue and green striped shirt. |
"I thought that all normal girls wore blue jeans, a tee-shirt, and bows in their hair," Kacy said. |
"That is what most girls wear, but girls don't have to. My name is Cierra," the girl in the striped shirt said. |
"Cierra. That's a pretty name. I'm Kacy," Kacy said. |
"Yes, I know," Cierra said. |
"You do?" Kacy asked in alarm. |
"I've watched a few of your performances, "Cierra said. |
"You sure gave me a fright. I thought that you heard the other girls tease me," Kacy said. |
