"I heard some of it. My advice is to be kinder to them, and they will be kinder to you. In the past, you acted better than them, but now they are doing that to you. Those girls would love to have you as a friend, but you have to show them that you aren't a star anymore," Cierra said. |
"CIERRA, dinner is on the table!" Cierra's mother called. |
"Kacy, I'll talk to you after dinner," Cierra said. |
"Wait! Are you my friend?" Kacy asked Cierra. |
"If you want," Cierra said. |
"I do want a friend!" Kacy said. |
"Well, then consider me a friend!" Cierra said. |
With that, Cierra left to go in for dinner. Kacy ran to find the girls that she had wanted to play with. |
The girls who were playing basketball were still there. Kacy went right up to the lead girl. |
"I want to play," Kacy said. |
"Not Kacy the Star!" the girl said. |
"I'm NOT Kacy the Star. I'm Kacy, plain Kacy!" Kacy cried. |
"She does look like plain Kacy," another girl agreed. |
"She's still not playing because I said so," the lead girl said. |
"But we can play somewhere else, if we want to," the other girls said. |
"Kacy, would you like to play?" the other girls asked. |
"I'd love to," Kacy said. |
That night, Kacy went to her sister's show. Before she had met Cierra, Kacy would have been jealous of her sister. But now, she felt happy that she was Kacy, plan old Kacy. |
Kacy looked up at the back row, and for one moment, she thought she saw Cierra smiling at her. |
"Thanks Cierra, thanks," Kacy whispered. |
Kacy started wearing things that girls who aren't stars wear. And Kacy has a bunch of friends. Her favorite friend is Cierra, who helped her learn an important lesson. |
