TROT Joining Information
So, you would like to join TROT? Great! Just follow these simple and easy steps! And make sure to read the Game Rules!
- Get A Horse. You can get horses from several places, including making one up, importing one from another game, buying one from someone (the TROT Sale Board is a great place to look!), or having someone breed you a foal. Most barns will do this for you, for a fee. If, you still can't find the horse you want, post a Wanted ad!
- Find a barn you like and contact the owner about boarding. Just look through the barns, and try to find an active barn with interests that are like your own. Contact the owner to see if the barn is open for boarding, and if it is, the barn owner can give you further instructions on how to board there.
- Fill out the Player Listings Info and Subscribe to the TROT Digest! This is also an excellent time to post an introduction on the message board or in the digest (boarders must post to the digest through their mentors).
- Register your horses! Check out the associations and register your horses in any associations they are eligible for. This will provide more showing opportunities, and can make your horse more valuable, with chances for approvals and such.
- Start showing! You are now ready to begin to get active in the game. As soon as you join and are ready, with your mentor's approval, you may start a mini-barn at the barn you board at, if you wish. You can also own an association, and after 2 months, possibly your own barn! You can also hold shows as soon as you are ready.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this game free?
Yes. TROT is totally free of charge! All money used is virtual money.
Do I need to own a horse in Real Life to play?
No. While many TROT players do own or lease horses in real life, it is not a requirement to play! Just as many TROT players do not own horses in RL! You should be interested in equines to play, though!
How do associations and businesses work?
You can register yourself or your animals in TROT associations and registries, and usually you will get a registration number, like in real life! Vet/farrier offices work kind of like they do in real life too, you must make an appointment and then you will get a description of what happened. In businesses and stores, you get supplies! There should be instructions on how to join, buy or make an appointment on pages.
Do I have to have a bank account?
No. Bank accounts are reccomended for realism, but they are not required at this time. If you don't have a bank account, you must be at least somewhat realistic with your money though, even if it is sim! This means no spending $1,000,000 on a horse!!
Can I be in TROT if I play in another game?
Of course! But, you must stay active. Check the TROT Rules page for more info on the subject. But, if you bring a horse from another game into TROT, all awards (including name approvals!) must be listed separately from TROT awards and must be identified as "from another game". If your horse has a name approval from another game, this must be removed and listed in the "Other Game Awards".
How do I show my horses?
Showing your horse is simple. First, make sure your horse is eligible for the show you wish to enter. Many shows require a horse to be registered in an association to enter. Then, if your horse is eligible for the show, read the rules and entry information. That should tell you how to enter. Once the show has been held, wait a week and check the TROT Results page for the results!
I like two barns. Can I board my horses at both?
No. You can only board at one barn, but you CAN put your horses in training at a barn different from the one you board at.
