Chapter 6

By the end of the first day in New York Brian was driving everyone crazy. All he could think about was Sue and he was letting them all know. Whatever the topic of conversation was, Sue was brought into it, one way or another. Nick took to hitting Brian, and then hitting Kevin for being the one responsible for introducing them. Then Howie because he was in on it too. Secretly though, Nick was thrilled to see Brian out of the depressed state he had been in. "Brian, will you get a grip?" Nick would say to him. Brian would only grin at him like a lovesick fool. "Man, you are going to need a lot of cold showers this week," he said to Brian, "I blame you Kevin." He pointed at Kevin accusingly.

Kevin watched Brian through the week with great interest. He could see the signs easily, having been there himself. It had been love at first sight for Brian and whether he was willing to admit it to himself or not, the signs were plain to see, that Brian had fallen in love. He would be there for Brian to talk to if he needed to be but so far he was doing a great job at talking to everyone about Sue. Kevin chuckled to himself. There were no half measures with Brian when it came to love.

Brian made many phone calls to Sue at every spare opportunity he had. Every time he was late for something, the others all knew where he was. In the end they gave up. Brian was in love and nothing any of them could say or do would change things. It was a happier Brian who sat through all the interviews and meetings they had to attend too, relaxing all the guys who had all seriously been worried about him. He had gone from one extreme to the other, but this was a good extreme. Brian craved love, he always did, it was in his nature.

The day they were due to fly out of New York, Brian was nearly jumping out of his skin. He was seriously driving the others crazy. He wouldn't see Sue till the next day, but it didn't matter to him, he would be back home and in close proximity to her. He would ring her and talk to her the moment he was back, hoping it wouldn't be too late. And the next morning they had planned a day out at Disney World. That was still neutral enough for Brian to feel comfortable, because the way he was feeling, all he wanted to do was hold her in his arms and kiss her all day long. But he wanted to know every little thing about her. He wanted to spend every moment with her until he had to go on the next leg of the tour again. That date was looming fast.

Sue had enjoyed the phone calls she and Brian had shared over the past week. They had got to know a lot about each other without the problem of Brian's nervousness, without him worrying about what else could go wrong. They had got to know each other very well, and she knew she would feel comfortable with him the moment she saw him again. And he owed her a kiss. She wouldn't let him forget.

Sue got in late the night Brian was due back, having been to an important meeting about her work. They had been extremely happy with what she had done on the basketball web page, and had offered her more work, this one sounded a little easier for her, she wouldn't need Brian's help, not that that had been a bad thing. She dropped her keys on the bedside table and noticed the answering machine blinking in the corner of her bedroom, indicating a message. Hopefully it was from Brian. When she clicked the switch to collect messages, she smiled to see 8 messages lined up. She listened to each one with a far away look on her face, the smile not seen by anyone. Each one of the messages was from Brian, whispering sweet nothings to her. He was back in town and just wanted to talk to her. He was sounding more than disappointed by the eighth message. He wanted to talk to her.

Just then, the phone rang making Sue jump. Brian again, and Sue used her portable extension to walk around and talk to Brian. She made herself comfortable on the bed and the two of them found themselves talking well into the night about everything and nothing as they had been doing all week. She was just happy to hear his voice and know he was close by again. If it wouldn't have made her sound too eager she would have invited him over.

The next morning, Sue was up early, eager to be ready when Brian finally arrived to take her out. She would have been happy to just stay in with Brian, keep talking to him, maybe convince him kissing was for more than just goodbye. But Brian had asked her to go to Disney World with her and she suspected he was still a little nervous about being alone too long, and this would be a great diversion. She liked Disney World, so it was all good to her.

Exactly like the last time Brian had arrived at her house, Sue was in a dream state when he knocked. She was dreaming of kissing him, like he had kissed her when he left that night a full week ago. When he knocked loudly on the door, sounding like he was trying to pound his way through the door rather than just get her attention, Sue jumped up and raced to the door, tearing it open quickly.

When she saw Brian standing there, looking more handsome than she remembered, her heart began its erratic beating, her body humming with something she had never felt before. She stood in the doorway mesmerised by him.

"Hi Sue." Brian said simply.

"Hi," Sue squeaked out. Her breathing was already coming in short gasps.

Brian didn't make her wait, he couldn't. He had waited for this moment all week, and now all he wanted was to feel her lips on his, hold her in his arms closely and kiss her. He lifted his arms and reached out to her, sliding his fingers softly around to the back of her neck, twisting them in her hair. He pulled her close to him, wrapping his other arm loosely around her waist. Automatically Sue's arms lifted to be around him too. He looked deeply into her eyes, searching for the answer he wanted. He had to know if she didn't want him to kiss her. All he saw in their deep brown depths was a desire for him to do exactly as he planned. Slowly he moved closer.

He felt her breath on his lips and his apprehension left him. He pulled her body closer to his moulding his body to hers. Her eyes closed as she waited for him to close the space between them. He looked at her, drinking in her features before lowering his lips to hers.

As his lips touched hers a small moan escaped her and her arms pulled him closer to her, locking tightly around him. That enflamed him further and his lips slid over hers gently, lovingly. As much as he wanted to, he was reluctant to deepen the kiss, and he moved away slowly, looking at her. Her eyelids fluttered open and he smiled at her gently. "That wasn't the kiss I owe you." He told her suddenly.

"It wasn't?" Sue asked, her breathing still heavy.

"No. That was my 'gee I missed you kiss'. The one I owe you could come at any time."

Sue smiled back at him. "Oh is that so? I hope it doesn't have an expiry date on it."

"It doesn't." Brian moved away, but his fingers lingered on Sue's cheek, his eyes never leaving hers. He sighed then looked away finally. "Are you ready for a day at Disney?" Sue was still shaken by the kiss they shared and merely nodded. "Which park shall we go to?"

This was something she hadn't even thought of. She shrugged. "How about Magic Kingdom?" It didn't really matter which one they went to.

"Magic Kingdom it is then." Brian said cheerfully.

They headed off to the Disney theme park with Brian still affected by his reaction to having Sue back at his side. When he saw her standing at the door he was floored at her beauty. His memory of her over his week away in New York hadn't really prepared him for the reality when he returned. He was dazzled, mesmerised. He wanted to take her in his arms and never let her go. It shook him to be feeling so strongly about her, but there was nothing in his power he could do to deny it. He had to kiss her and once he had, he felt as shaken as he had before. There were forces beyond his control at play here.

Sue was excited at being at Magic Kingdom and Brian smiled at her enthusiasm. He loved coming here too, and it was made all the more special to be sharing it with Sue. He took her hand in his and led her to the entrance, smiling down at her. He was wearing sunglasses and wished he didn't need to so he could look into her eyes unobstructed. A disguise was necessary for him though. Along with the sunglasses he wore a cap, down low over his eyes. He hoped that would be enough to disguise himself today. He wanted to spend the day with Sue without fan interruptions.

Sue too wished Brian didn't need to cover up and hide. She loved his eyes, and wanted to be able to look into them. They were so blue, so honest and truthful. He showed an honest and caring soul and she could see it just by looking into his eyes. She looked down at her hand in his and that familiar warm glow began its travel through her body. She squeezed his hand and smiled up at him. Did he have any idea how much he meant to her already, in the short space of time she had known him?

A small commotion caught her eye a short distance to the right of them and when Sue looked and saw what was happening, she blinked and looked again. She blinked and shook her head. "Brian, look over there," she pointed in the direction she was looking at.

"Look at what?" Brian asked. All he wanted to do was look at her.

"Over there, that guy. The one being followed by all those girls." She continued on. "He looks like you!"

Brian looked at the direction Sue was indicating and took a double take. "He does!" he stated. Sue didn't know if he was annoyed or amused.

She looked up at him intensely. "He doesn't look too much like you. He is nowhere near as good looking. And…" Sue lifted her free hand and traced her fingers down Brian's jaw, loving the texture his beard gave to them, "he hasn't got this sexy beard."

Brian blushed. "No, he hasn't. Do you honestly like it?"

"Brian, I love it." She had liked it before he had gone away, but with an extra week's growth, it was even sexier than before.

He merely smiled then looked over at the other guy. "This could either be a good thing or bad. If those girls think he is me, and that I am here at the park, either he could take the heat away from me, or if word spreads and we are seen by fans, they could take better notice than normal."

"True. But lets not worry about that. Let him take the heat away from us." Sue moved closer to Brian and kissed him quickly on the cheek. "We can relax and have a good day can't we?"

"Oh yeah, I'd like that. It's been a while since I have been able to relax like this," he said to her, his eyes not leaving hers. "So, where to first?"

Sue didn't care where they went, so long as she was with Brian. That longing feeling she had been experiencing lately was surfacing again. It seemed to be a permanent state since Brian knocked on her door this morning. "How about Frontier Land? I want to go to Splash Mountain."

Brian hesitated, but when he saw the excitement on her face he had to agree. "Best to go there before the lines get too long hey?" He knew for sure she would want to go on the Skyway too, and he promised himself the night before he would take her on it if she wanted. Maybe up there he could kiss her to take his mind off the heights he would be travelling.

That is how the morning went by. Brian rarely let go of Sue's hand as they wandered through the park at leisure. His disguise seemed to be working and for that he was happy. They saw his look alike once more that morning being followed by a group of girls, and laughed as they hid from him in a gift shop in Fantasy Land. In there he wanted to buy her all the gifts he could find, but he settled on getting her one Donald Duck soft toy that she had been admiring. Safely tucked under her arm, they headed toward the Skyway Brian had so far been avoiding.

Brian did kiss Sue in the Skyway. Once aboard the carriage, he pulled her close to him leaving his arm around her and looked at her while she enthused over the sights of the park from above pointing from one side to the other at the castle, all the rides and attractions she could pick out. She hadn't picked up on the fact that something was bothering him and he was happy to just look at her rather than the sights below. Looking over the edge brought him no joy.

Sue turned to look at Brian and saw him gazing at her. "Brian, are you okay?" she asked him, suddenly aware of his anxiety.

"Yeah, I'm okay. I just don't like heights very much." He admitted to her.

"You don't? Brian why didn't you say? I could have done without this ride." She jumped about making the carriage rock. He grabbed her arm to keep her still.

"Please keep still," he laughed holding her still. "Because you wanted to come on here. You were so excited."

"Brian, I am excited about everything here. You should have said."

"It's okay Sue. I'll…. I'll just keep….. looking at you."

"Me?"

"Yeah. Sue, you are so beautiful. Have I told you that?" Sue shook her head, then nodded it again. "Well, I'll tell you again, just in case I haven't." He took her free hand in his and looked into her eyes. "You are so beautiful."

He leaned close and kissed her on the cheek, letting his lips linger before moving on. Sue's eyes closed as she waited for more. He kissed each closed eye gently then moved down to her other cheek. He moved back and looked at her. He was right, she was beautiful and he ached to kiss her more. His lips slowly moved to hers and gently, like a butterfly's wings, his lips touched hers. That simple touch pushed him further and he moved in to kiss her again, wrapping his arms around her tightly.

They felt the carriage begin to lower and moved apart slowly, neither one of them breaking the eye contact they had made. Brian felt a stirring in his blood. One that, while hormonal, was also very spiritual. He felt at one with Sue, he felt she was his other half, his soul mate. He wanted to know her like he had never known anyone before. It felt like a vital need to him. But despite feeling like this, he still held back. Whether he still felt wary after his previous experience, or it was purely a need to take things slowly, he wasn't sure. All he knew was he wanted Sue, and it still scared him.

Sue was feeling the same things as Brian was. She looked at him as the carriage descended, seeing the look of love and desire in his eyes, but also something else. A reluctance perhaps, she could tell he was holding back still, and it only made her love him all the more. He was a true gentleman.

Love? Did she just use that word in her mind? She wasn't ready to think about that yet. It was too soon for her, but she had to be honest with herself and admit it was definitely heading that way. She smiled at him as they walked out if the carriage, their hands still entwined. Yes, she was definitely getting there.

They had dinner at one of the restaurants in the Town Square. As they were heading out after the night parade and fireworks, Brian led her down a side lane and into the restaurant. It was obvious he had a booking there, so there was no trouble in getting a seat, and one out of the way from public viewing.

As they sat there, the Brian look-alike came through the door with 4 girls in tow. He made a big scene about wanting a table for 5, and wanting it now. Brian and Sue looked at each other in confusion. When the waiter told him there were no tables available at this stage, the look-alike nearly screamed out "don't you know who I am? I am Brian Littrell of the Backstreet Boys."

Brian's eyes nearly popped out of his head and gasped. The waiter looked over in his direction and Brian shook his head no. He obviously knew this was an impostor and wanted to know if Brian knew anything about this man. When Brian shook his head, he politely told the man he had no room right now and suggested another restaurant around the corner. As the man and his followers left amidst a stream of verbal abuse, the waiter came up to Brian and Sue.

"I'm sorry about that. I have no idea who that man is," Brian said to him.

"Not a problem Mr Littrell. He looked a lot like you though. If you hadn't already been in here, I would have believed it was him."

Brian sighed. He was thinking of all the other places this man was impersonating him at. "Yeah, he sure did."

Sue smiled. "Except the beard. He had none." Sue gazed at Brian across the table. The waiter slipped away discreetly after leaving the menu, leaving the two of them alone again.

"No, no beard. But this worries me. He did look a lot like me, an awful lot. What else is he getting up to?"

"I know Brian. He could give you a bad name. Isn't there something you could do?"

"I'm not sure. I will ask management tomorrow."

They both decided to change the subject and the night wore on without further thought of the impostor who was somewhere in close proximity. It was late in the evening when Brian walked Sue up to her front door.

"Would you like to come in Brian?" she asked him.

"Ummm, I think I better be heading home. My dog needs feeding, and I can imagine the mess he has made."

"You have a dog? Oh how sweet."

"Yeah, a Chihuahua."

"I love Chihuahua's."

"I'll bring him with me tomorrow. I mean, that is if you don't have any plans."

Sue's eyes mellowed. Didn't he understand she wanted to spend every moment together while he was still in town. "I have no plans Brian. I'd like to spend as much time as I can with you."

"You do?" Sue nodded. "I'd like that too."

Slowly he moved closer and Sue wished he would hurry. His lips brushed hers softly and she moaned, lifting her arms to wrap them around his neck. This time she didn't want him to get away. But Brian didn't seem to want to get away this time. His arms snaked out and around her waist pulling her close to him. He pulled away before deepening the kiss and looked at her.

Brian lifted one hand and softly brushed it down the side of her face. His eyes shone with love, the blue colour deepening. Sue leaned her head into his hand and smiled at him, just wishing he would kiss her. She ached to feel his lips on hers. His eyelids closed and opened again partly. As his face moved closer, Sue closed her eyes waiting to be taken to paradise. His lips softly touched hers, and she moaned again, whispering his name, clinging to him to stay upright. Right now, at this moment, all Sue needed in life was to be kissed by Brian. It was all consuming.

Brian heard Sue whisper his name against his lips and at that moment, he couldn't get enough of her. He pressed his lips closer to hers, but it wasn't enough. He wanted more he needed more. His tongue tentatively slid over Sue's bottom lip and he moaned deep in his throat. He felt her sigh and open her mouth in invitation. The moment his tongue touched hers things went beyond rational thought and caution was being thrown to the wind. Brian had to taste her. But still he knew he had to be slow, considerate, loving. As he deepened the kiss, their tongues duelling, his need for her grew. He pulled her in closer, as close as he could get her and her arms tightened around him too.

Brian pulled away, his breathing heavy, his eyes dazed. "That was the kiss I owed you," he said softly. It wasn't enough, he wanted more, but he was giving them both the chance to slow down. As he pulled away, Sue moved her face up and closer to his and he knew neither one of them wanted to slow down. He plunged his lips down to hers kissing her with passion and longing.

Slowly this time they pulled apart, with short kisses bringing them back to earth as they did. "I better be off." Brian said to her, still breathing heavy. He felt like the earth had tilted off its axis and he needed to think, put this feeling into perspective. He liked it, he wanted it, but he needed time to think.

"Yeah, will I see you tomorrow?" Sue asked forgetting their earlier comments.

"You bet you will." Sue watched him walk away slowly, almost looking like he wanted to come back the whole time it took him to get to his car in the driveway. As he drove away she waved, still feeling like she was in a daze. She opened the door and leaned against the wall inside. Her fingers touched her lips and she sighed. Brian was making her feel things she had never felt before and she liked it. She wanted him, she knew that, but she also knew it would take a long time with Brian. He was shy, he was a gentleman, and he had been hurt before. She knew she had his trust, but it was still going to take time. She knew how he was feeling, she had been hurt before too.
