The next three weeks were spent in exactly the same manner as the day that Brian and Sue had spent at Disney World. They didn't go out every day, they often spent days alone either at his place or hers. Sue loved Brian's little dog Tyk, and Brian was surprised at how easily Tyk had taken to Sue. He was an easygoing dog, having toured with the group since he was a puppy, but with strangers he was still a little wary, barking at them warningly. He hadn't done that at all with Sue. This had to be a good sign Brian thought. They had taken lots of walks together, holding each other close and sharing everything with each other. They had played basketball, Brian showing here the finer details of the game. She wasn't too bad at the game once she was shown, but would never be a match for Brian. Sue showed him more about her computer work and some of the work she did. She also introduced him to some of her online friends, without giving away his identity. He enjoyed chatting to some of her friends while she made lunch or dinner or took a break. The rest of the guys in Brian's group wanted to meet Sue, so they had a night out at Howie's club again. Brian joked that he would be much more careful this time, and make sure that his car was full of gas. He didn't want a repeat of that night they had first gone out. Everything had gone smoothly this night though and she enjoyed spending time with people who were so close to Brian. She was filled in on all of Brian's antics while they were in New York, making him blush. Sue understood though, feeling a lot like Brian had herself. They kissed a lot in the time too, but never any more than the kisses they had shared before. Sue was happy with the way things were going there and she loved every bit of love and attention Brian bestowed on her. She craved the kisses he gave her never getting enough of his lips on hers. Brian was feeling more comfortable about showing her his true feelings, but still he was always the true gentleman, never forcing himself on her at all. But all too soon the time at home came to an end. The three weeks they had spent together since Brian had been in New York had gone too fast. Their last night together had been as traumatic for Brian as it was for Sue. "I wish you would come with us." Brian had said to her. "You can do your work on the road." "I can't Brian, not with such short notice. I have commitments here." Brian had nodded and kissed her then, a kiss Sue would not forget in a hurry. The time came and they had to part and Sue promised herself she wouldn't cry. She managed not to in front of him, but as soon as he was gone a few silent tears slid down her cheeks. He had buried himself into her heart and she knew she loved him. Neither one of them had spoken the words, but Sue was sure Brian felt the same way. Life without Brian around was lonely. If she thought she was lonely before she was wrong. She missed him terribly, but managed to get on with life in as close to the way it was before meeting Brian as possible. But it was hard. She wanted to be with him, hold him in her arms and kiss him like she had been. Brian was the same where he was. Each night a different city, each day another round of interviews and concerts. He wanted Sue to be with him, that would make life easier. Right now all he could do was wish she were here and drive everyone crazy with his loneliness and heartache. He rang Sue as often as he could, but it didn't work out to be every day. Some days they were so busy, followed by a concert, Brian only wanted to fall in to bed when he got on the bus. He knew he wanted to surprise her with a visit soon. Sue got the surprise of her life a few weeks into the Backstreet Boys tour. She was in her local grocery store, doing her weekly shopping when she was tapped on the shoulder. She turned and in front of her stood Brian. "Oh my God Brian, what are you doing here?" The smile on her face was hurting her cheeks. He cleared his throat. "We had a couple of days off, I thought I would come back and see you Sweetie." He pulled her into his arms and gave her a wet kiss. Sue was taken aback. He had never called her sweetie before. He called her Baby, which she loved being called. But Sweetie didn't sound right. She shrugged. She didn't mind that. "How did you find me?" "I called around to your place, but you weren't home. I was disappointed you weren't there so I took a walk and saw your car here. I thought I would take a chance and find you in here. And here you are," he said kissing her again. It felt good, it had been so long since she had kissed him. But it wasn't like Brian to appear in public like this. He didn't even have a cap on. Maybe because they were on tour no one would expect to see him here. "I'm so glad to see you again. I've missed you." She put her arms around his waist and Brian stroked the side of her face. "I've missed you too. Tour life is great, but I hate leaving you here." "I know. But I can't just leave. It's so good to see you again though." She reached up to stroke his face. You shaved!" Brian's beard he had been growing was now in the very early stages of growth again. "Ummm, yeah. But letting it grow again." "It's not nearly as long as when you left." "Hmmm," he stroked his chin. "It was annoying me as long as it got." His blue eyes watched Sue. "What?" she asked, feeling self conscious under his gaze. "Nothing. It's just. You look so good." He smiled at her softly. Sue smiled back shyly. "Thank you." There was an awkward silence. "Would you like to come back to my place for dinner? How long are you in town?" "Just today. I have to go back to the others in the morning. I just had to see you." His hand traced down her cheek again "Lets go back to your place now." Sue smiled. "Just let me pay for these then I'll be ready." "I'll meet you out the front then, I don't want to go through the checkout." Sue nodded in understanding. He didn't want to be seen. He had no bodyguard with him. He disappeared out the door and Sue went quickly to the checkout. She had been so surprised at seeing Brian standing in front of her and now she wanted to spend every minute with him till he had to leave. She walked out the grocery store to find Brian standing there with his head in his hands, as if he was tired, maybe even stressed. "Are you okay Brian?" He looked up looking very weary. "Yeah, just tired I guess." He pulled Sue into his arms and walked with her. "Which way?" Sue frowned. He said he had seen her car. But she said nothing thinking he must be more tired than he had let on. They walked to the car and packed the groceries into the back. Sue then drove them to her home, acutely aware of Brian's presence beside her. He reached out and lay his hand on her knee, stroking his thumb over her knee. Sue was surprised and for a moment she looked away from the road and looked at Brian. He grinned at her but said nothing, just kept stroking her knee and she had to use all her abilities to stay on the road safely. Didn't he realise this was not a clever idea. She had missed him and his simply being here was enough to overload her senses. Once at home, Sue grabbed a couple of bags of groceries and Brian took the remaining bags. He carried the bags inside before he dropped them the second he was in the door pulling Sue into his arms. Sue was stunned at his actions, it was so unlike him to be so forward. His lips came down on hers hungrily and after an initial resistance, she relaxed into his arms and returned the kiss. His tongue came instantly out, searching for hers and he deepened the kiss as he had never done before. His hunger for her amazed her and she thought this was really not like him. He must have missed her more than she realised. She pushed the feeling aside and relaxed into his embrace, returning the kiss with equal hunger. Brian's hands began to roam over Sue's body, first caressing her back, relaxing her further. It felt good to have his arms around her and on her. One hand slowly came around in front of her, splaying across her belly. This was more intimate than Brian had ever been before and it surprised but delighted her. Slowly and deliberately his fingers moved up to cup her breast, emitting a moan from Sue. Brian deepened the kiss while caressing her breast softly. Feelings were rampaging through Sue, and even though the feelings cascading through her were beyond good, it also felt wrong. She pulled away from the kiss quickly. "Brian….. Brian….." she called out. "Brian!" His hand dropped away and Sue pulled out of his arms. "I'm sorry Sue." He raked his fingers through his hair. It sure had grown a lot since he left. "I've just missed you so much." "I know. I've missed you too, but, I dunno. You've just never been so,….so intense before. You are usually so hesitant, shy even. It took you three dates to even kiss me properly." He looked at her and Sue saw the surprise in his eyes. "I know, I'm sorry. Just having you here with me again. It's lonely while I am away. All I can think about is you. Do you forgive me?" Sue smiled at Brian. How could he think she wouldn't? Didn't he know how she felt about him? "Yes Brian. I forgive you." She reached over and touched his cheek. "Now, lets get these groceries away and cook something for dinner." Brian smiled at her, the smile she loved to see, and the two of them packed away the groceries. They sat together with a cup of coffee talking about the weeks they had been apart and all that had been happening. Sue was doing most of the talking while Brian watched her. She was telling him about her work animatedly. She caught him smiling at her and stopped mid sentence. "What?" "Oh nothing. You are a sight for sore eyes, that's all." Sue smiled shyly. "Lets cook some dinner." She bounced out of her seat and padded over to the kitchen. She busied herself cooking some pasta unaware Brian was right behind her. His arms snaked around her waist and his lips travelled over the back of her neck. She moved into his embrace noticing the warm feeling pooling in her belly as he kissed her. "Brian." She said to him quietly. He continued kissing her. He was confusing her with his actions today. "Brian, please. Stop." She pulled away. "I'm sorry Brian. I'm just not used to this change in you." "Don't you like it?" She thought about her words before speaking. "Yes. I like it. But it is so unlike you, it's just a little disconcerting. You are confusing me." He nodded. "Okay. I'm sorry. As I said before, it's been so long and I have missed you." "Brian, it's only been a few weeks. You will be away longer than that." He sighed. He looked suddenly agitated and Sue frowned. "Okay. I'm sorry. I won't do it again." "Brian. You don't get it. It's just that it's such a change in you." She looked into his blue eyes and blinked. She frowned to herself. His eyes looked a different shade of blue than she was used to. For an instant she remembered the impostor Brian they had seen at Disney World, but she shook the feeling off. Surely she would know. "I know. And I'm sorry. I'm tired too. All these things together. It's stressful being on tour sometimes. Especially when you are alone. Maybe I should go." "No!" Sue reached up to touch his face. "Don't go. Please." She leaned up and kissed him softly on the lips. "Come on. Sit down, I'll finish dinner and we can eat. Maybe watch a movie." "Okay." He looked like he wanted to say something but he kept quiet. He sat and waited, looking around the kitchen as she worked. Dinner didn't take long and soon Sue was serving up her favourite pasta dish, which she knew was Brian's too. She frowned when he looked at it with some distaste. "What's wrong? It's your favourite isn't it?" "Yes, I just…." "Just? Isn't it like mom makes?" Sue joked but inside she felt hurt. He reached out and took her hand, kissing her fingers. "It's not that. I love this. I'm sure it will be perfect." Sue sat and began to eat the meal, watching Brian who seemed hesitant, but began to eat too. He sure didn't look like someone who was eating his favourite meal. After they cleaned up the dishes, they sat down to watch a movie. Sue put on Dumb and Dumber knowing what a Jim Carey fan he was, also commenting on how difficult it must be when everyone seems to know so much about him when he doesn't even know a person. He agreed, and the two of them settled in to watch. His arm went naturally around her pulling her close and Sue snuggled in to his body. Before long they were both laughing at the movie and simply enjoying being together. Late into the evening, Brian said his goodbyes and she could feel he wanted to deepen the kiss they shared. She could feel him holding back and in a way she was glad. The change in him had surprised her. He ran his fingers lovingly down her cheek. "I'll see you in a couple of weeks Sue. I'll miss you." |
