Just as N64 is about to retire, Rare releases their shocking, long
anticipated game titled Conker's Bad Fur Day (CBF). Although it seems
like another "mario" game, CBF is extremely violent and contains some
sexual content. Blood and gore together with sex related stuff does not
necessarily make a good game... So then, how does CBF do as a videogame.
GAMEPLAY (9.8)
Basically, you play a red squirrel named Conker who gets drunk and needs
to find his way back home. During his journey there, he "helps" weird
characters out and gets money as a reward. Conker doesn't know, though,
that a panther king wants him so (get this) he could use him to literally
fix his table and in turn prevent anymore of his glasses of milk to fall.
Hehehe funny! CBF is similar to Banjoo-Kazooie in being a 3D adventure game and
in terms of objectives; collect a certain amount of an item to
progress. In Banjoo-Kazooie, you need to collect puzzle pieces.
In CBF, you collect money. However, what
really separates CBF from Banjoo is the WAY in which you collect
these "progressing items." In CBF, there is absolutely no coins,
bananas, notes or other stuff that you need to collect over 100
just to get a "progressing item." Rare ingeniously constructed
CBF so that there are many interesting ways in getting the one
item you need - money. What's really good is that Rare
implemented a hilarious storyline to boot!
In addition to the 1st player adventure, CBF has a multiplayer option.
CBF has your normal death-match, but it also has some unique multiplayer games.
There's one game where players choose to be a raptor or a
caveman. Players who choose to be a raptor has a mission to eat
any caveman they see to protect their eggs. Players who choose
to be a caveman has a mission to steal all the eggs from a
raptor's nest and fry them for breakfast. There's another
multiplayer game where players compete to steal money sacks from
the Federal Reserve Bank.
To be the winner, a player must either steal three money sacks
first or, my favorite option, eliminate the competition with
various weapons! The unique multi-games are a great change to
the usual death-matches.
There were two things that bothered me about CBF's gameplay:
1) players aren't able to carry more than just one weapon in the
multiplayer games and 2) the 1st player adventure is kinda short.
In terms of hours, I practically spent only about 10-25 hrs finishing
the game. That's short compared to other 3D platform games like
Mario 64 and Donkey Kong 64. >>>cont... |
