Aichi's prefectural mark (sorry it isn't too pretty)

I certainly haven't explored all of this great ken, but just in Nagoya there is a lot to see. Nagoya has many great museums, a must-see castle, a very large International center, and much more.

At the station ask for tourist information in English.

  • Prefectural Flower: Iris

  • Prefectural Bird: Screech Owl

  • Prefectural Tree: the Red Maple

NAGOYA CASTLE:

Open from 9:00-4:30
All year except from Dec 29-Jan 1
Admission: 500 yen

Although a great deal of the original castle was destroyed during the WW2, it has been reconstructed and many national treasures are exhibited there.

Museums include (sorry I don't have more info)

  • Nagoya Boston Art Museum - displaying works from the Boston Museum of Fine Arts

  • Museum Meiji-Mura - a large outside museum which has reconstructions of Meiji period buildings.
