Indy Rock Times Ten

We are Gitch, an independent rock band from Mesa, AZ. We have a 7 song demo tape called "Trying Hard to Be Like You" that we released at the end of 1999. To describe what kind of rock we play, we have been compared to the Get Up Kids, No Knife, Brandtson, Jimmy Eat World, Modest Mouse and Redfield. We don't want to be trapped under a specific label, because we try to play all kinds of styles, but if the word "emo" helps you understand what we sound like, then okay, we are emo. We believe ourselves to be a little more aggressive and jumpy than "emo", though.

LATE BREAKING NEWS

1/16/01 - Well, it's a new year, and we're hoping to be a lot more active this year. We have a bunch of new songs which will hopefully be satisfactory to everyone. Sadly, we have some bad news. A good friend of ours (who was the only one with us when we wrote our popular ballad "Best for First") has been emailing us regularly from her home in Prescott, telling us how much she loves that song and whatnot. But a few weeks ago she informed us that she had been diagnosed with a pretty bad form of cancer. We were heart-broken, so we wrote a song in honor of her, entitled "This is for April". This is a very hard thing for us, so please, if you hear us perform the song, just keep in mind who its for and please give her the respect she deserves.

10/19/00 - Contrary to popular belief and contrary to previous statements we've made, Gitch will NOT be appearing in the Phoenix Battle of the Bands because it is a big scam to get money. It is not worth it unless you actually won, which is impossible for us, judging from previous battle of the bands. To win you must have an incredibly trite name, you must be exetremely hardcore and you must wear funny hats. We are none of these. In order to even play at this, we had to sell thirty tickets for them at 10 dollars a ticket, which is extremely ridiculous. Oh well.

9/3/00 - Sometime this fall, or winter, we are joining forces with two other local bands, Felix and the Manhattan Project, to put on a big show in celebration of the new release of the greatest band ever... ...WEEZER. The show will consist entirely of Weezer cover songs, and Gitch will be playing the following selections: El Scorcho, Sweater Song, Pink Triangle, Holiday, Sweet Adeline and another undecided song. It will be a treat, so keep checking in for details.
