WILSON (of Yorkshire & Derbyshire)  research page  |

Joseph WILSON was born about 1810 in Derbyshire?, and possibly was married in 1824 at Hope, Derbyshire, England to Ann BRIDGE, who was born about 1810, place unknown.  They had a son James, born about 1836, also possibly another son, Joseph, born abt 1843.

James WILSON was born in Derwent, Derbyshire, England and he married Ann WELCH about 1860.  Ann was born in about 1834 at King's Sutton, Oxfordshire, England.  There were two known sons, Arthur A born abt 1860 and Edward John  born in 1862 at Tusmore, Oxfordshire.   No other children are known at present.  Arthur's occupation in the 1881 census was Railway Engineer?   [ photo of Edward ]

Edward, a Stonemason, was married in 1885 at Sheffield, Yorkshire to Ann EYRE, who was born at Hirst near Ecclesfield, Yorkshire in 1863.  Shortly after they married they immigrated to Australia, where the 4 older boys were born.  After being flooded out a number of times, Edward, Ann and their two surviving sons moved to New Zealand.  They had six known children: James, Albert, Frederick, Frank, Harold and Ina Madeline.

I am presuming that Arthur was married, and he was living in Parkwood Springs, Sheffield in December 1916.  Nothing more is known of him, but his children may have been Edith and Vida.

James WILSON was born at Kedron Brook near Lutwyche, north of Brisbane in 1886 and married Emily Hilda WALLIS at Auckland, New Zealand in 1913.  Emily was born in 1887 at Auckland, and her parents were Robert Martin WALLIS and Emily Sarah WING.

The twins Albert and Frederick were born at Richmond, Victoria in 1888 and both died as infants in Australia.

Frank was born at Cabbage Tree Creek, north of Brisbane in 1892.

Harold was born at Whangarei, New Zealand.

Ina was probably born at Auckland.
