The Underdogs!

Every newspaper, Sports show, and radio show, was talking about Ali, Marciano, Dempsey, John L. Sullivan, and Mike Tyson! It makes you wonder who are on the list? Who are the underdogs? Who are the fighter everyone is going to love when they lose by 1 point to someone like Ali? Who are they? I had the pleasure to talk to 3 of them. He is what landford had to say.

TB: Well first off I want to congratulate you.

SL: Thank you, I really was honored to be invited to fight in the IBC division.

TB: People will look at you and say your simply to small to compete against these type of fighters. What do you say to those people?

SL: I want to say to everyone that im little! (laughing) For a heavyweight yes indeed, do that mean a bigger guy can beat me? No boxing is more then height and weight.

TB: (Lauhing) Oh I did even know you was small for a heavyweight.

SL: (Laughing)

TB: How far do you see yourself going?

SL: Champion nothing less! My whole career i wanted that but didn't receive it, and now thanks to the IBC, and Title- fight 2001, I can achieve my goal.

Tb: As always thank you Sam.

When talking to Sam i had a sense of determination, As if he wanted so badly to prove everyone wrong. My next interview with Earnie Shavers  Things gets a little interesting.

 

TB: Well congrats Earnie on being in the IBC division. What do you think of the competition?

ES: Thanks, Great ,great just great people fighting for a livin trying to please the fans.

Tb: Do you really think you can make the top 20?

Es: No I don't think I can make the top 20! Because I will be the champion of the world! We all seen what i did to Ali he knows I won! If I can beat him then i can beat everyone else on this list.

TB: The rumor is that you might be fighting Ken Norton or Larry Holmes. Who you want to fight, among the two?

Es: I will fight anybody, because I know what I can , and can't do. A lot of people want to believe there sluggers, and boxers while in all reality they are just one of the two. I know myself I stick to the game plane, and I win. On that note I want to fight Larry Holmes, just because I believe that fight will give me more confidence.

Tb: Thank you, Earnie wish you nothing but the best.

Es: Thanks.

I think Shavers is Definitely the sleeper in this fight. my last interview was with a man who thinks he can beat every man in the IBC! But he only fought one heavyweight. The one and only Roy Jones Jr.

TB: Congratulation Roy for being invited to fight in the IBC. Wow a lot of people are saying why you? What do you say to those people?

RJ: People doubted me when I fought Ruize but look what I did to him! No one in this Division can beat me! Im to quick and my jab is to strong, I can knock you out! Or just drag you along and torture you! Everyone will see me at my best! And I want the commissioner to put me up with a Well known heavyweight so i can straight beat his ass! And after I do that I want to see what the damn media is going to see about me then?

TB: (laughing) Roy The commissioner said you will fight either Floyd Patterson, or Jack Dempsey. Who do you want to fight?

RJ: Hands down Dempsey! Because after I whoop him like Miracle whip, I want to see what excuse he/or The media will give!

Tb: If you was to fight Ali who will win and how?

RJ: Ali hmm.. wow he is great but he talk to much! And he will make me angry and I will have to destroy him! 

Tb: (laughing) Honestly I don't think you can beat Joe Frazier, let alone Ali.

RJ: Well I don't give a damn what you think! Im giving you the facts like it or not!

Tb: Thank you, Roy I will give you a minute to just talk about what you want.

RJ: Too all my critics who be saying why im in the IBC What am im doing here? and all sorts of mess like that! Wait till after my first round knockout of Dempsey then I Want to read, hear and See what you have to say! Because its not a man who can touch me in this whole damn tournament! Let alone defeat me!
