History
Opened in 1970s. One of the original
Ibiza clubs - another one which
used to be open air, and probably
the first club in the world with
a swimming pool.
Location
Half way between Ibiza and san
Antonio on the main road, near
San Rafael. Tricky to miss, as
it rises like a spaceship over
the hills of San Rafael.
Music Policy
Very
varied with nights offering music
from each and every genre, from
funky breakbeat to full on trance
and techno. When the entire club
is open, it is split up into 3
different musical areas, which
means you are fairly guaranteed
to find something to make you
groove. The sound system is large
to say the least. Well, Privilege
is the size of a football pitch.
Inside Privilege
You will be lucky not to get lost
in Privilege. You enter the club
down a massive staircase, and
are bang in the middle of (probably)
the world's largest dancefloor.
Fantastic atmosphere when full,
you can spend the whole night
wandering around the terraced
gardens (with Palm trees) or upstairs
in the VIP lounge (with real VIPs);
there are several different dance
areas with different music styles
(Manumission even has a resident
toilet Dj)...Privilege has to
be seen to be believed.
Privilege
(formerly known as KU) enjoys
legendary status not only on Ibiza,
but worldwide. After all, not
every club can boast a capacity
of 10.000 and a swimming pool
to cool you off when the going
gets hot. Formerly the darling
of the late-eighties Jet Set,
super models and rock stars, Privilege
(at this time known as KU) was
forced to close down in the early
nineties - alleged rumours of
drug trafficking and mafia abounded.
Since re-opening in 1994 under
a new name, Privilege has become
synonomous with the largest party
of them all....Manumission. For
the last 8 years, monday nights
on Ibiza just haven't been the
same. For those of you who haven't
heard of Manumission, do yourselves
a favour and check it out. Transvestites
on perilously high trapezes, dwarfs
peeling potatoes, wicked fancy
dress dancers, and a refreshingly
non-trancey sound. Yes it is pricey,
yes it is worth it.
Prices
Expect to pay up to 60 €
for Manumission. Other nights
vary between 25 € and
50 €. There are often free
tickets in Ibiza Town and San
Antonio for the lesser known promoters'
nights. A Vodka Lemon costs approx.
10 € and a beer 8 €.
Reduced price flyers are also
available.
Queuing is the norm. So buy tickets
beforehand to save trouble on
the door.
