"Beggar My Neighbour" |
Beggar My Neighbour is a very old and simple game that can be played with 2 - 6 people. The cards are dealt evenly to each player until they can no longer be done so. The cards must be kept face down in a pile and not looked at. Once the cards are dealt, the person on the left of the dealer turns thier top card face up and puts it in the center of the table. Then the person on thier left does the same, and this goes on until someone puts down a king, queen, jack (knave), or an ace. When one of those cards is put down, the person on the left of the person that put down the card pays for the card. An ace is worth 4 cards, a king is worth 3, queens are worth 2, and jacks (knaves) are worth 1. The payer pays by putting that amount of cards in the center. If a payable card is upturned during payment, then that card must be apid for. When the payment is over, the person last paid takes all the cards in the center of the table and puts them at the bottom of the deck. The game is won when one person has all 52 cards of the deck. |
