Jobs Advertised In the Media

It is a very good idea to familiarize yourself with newspaper, trade magazines, radio and the internet, if possible. All of these sources provide information about jobs and about industry.

Look through the whole newspaper, but concentrate on the employment section. Read this and gradually, over a period of a month or so, you will start gaining a knowledge of the words used and the types of jobs being advertised regularly.

It’s worth remembering that newspapers inform us of events relevant to job searching, such as new companies starting up or expanding and new projects in the community that will possibly need to take on additional staff. Being aware will give you the head start to follow through on that information. Find the company that’s involved in what’s going on.
