3023 - Khan Tracy Cage steps down; James Lienet assumes the duties of Khan.

James Lienet is well known among the Ice Hellions for his cool head, a fact that comes as a surprise to anyone outside of the Clan. Though possessing a cool head for an Ice Hellion, this still makes him hotheaded compared to Warriors in most other Clans. James Lienet is one of the oldest Ice Hellion Warriors still serving in a front-line unit, a testament to his survival skills, as a result he is one of the few who can claim to have served in all three front-line Ice Hellion Galaxies.
As a young whelp James amazed his instructors with his tactical ability; this, coupled with his better than average gunnery skills, earned him the rank of Star Commander in his first Trial of Position. His codex notes that his initial opponent fell with the first salvo from his weapons. His first command was a fast attack Star in Delta Galaxy's 53rd Striker Irregulars. For his three years of command his star held the Galaxy's record for a winning percentage. James was soon recommended and won promotion to a prestigious command position in Alpha Galaxy's 150th Hellion Lancers. When Clan Star Adder attempted to acquire a vital Ice Hellion genetics laboratory James' medium Supernova found itself in the thick of the fight. Six months later James was the proud holder of the Lienet bloodname - dropping an enemy Star Colonel piloting a Warhawk while piloting a Nova is a good way to gain sponsorship for a Bloodname Trial.
Three years later the Ice Hellions went hunting for crystalline ore. They choose the output from Jade Falcon mines in the Pentagon as their target. The 150th received over 30% casualties while giving Jade Falcon unit almost 45%. In the heavy fighting a strong Jade Falcon counterattack succeeded in destroying the 150th's command star along with the CO. With the CO dead and the senior Star Captain MIA, James Lienet was the next senior officer and took command of what remained of the 150th. The following salvo and charge lead by James broke the Jade Falcons spirit, winning the day and the much needed crystals for the Ice Hellions. Following the Khan's approval and a decisive Trial of Position, James Lienet won the triple stars of an Ice Hellion Star Colonel. During the next five years James Lienet's administrative skills came to the fore as he rebuilt the 150th into the second-most powerful unit in Alpha Galaxy, right behind the Khan's Keshik, the illustrious 7th Attack Cluster.
When Delta Galaxy Commander Blackmon Rood was chosen saKhan, Star Colonel Lienet was one of two choices for his replacement - the other, Zetheran Cage, spent three weeks in the infirmary before returning to his command in Beta Galaxy. The Dauntless Hunters performed well under the hand of Galaxy Commander James Lienet. No major trials were fought during his 4 years of command, though the many trinary sized engagements were all well supplied. James Lienet led the 2nd Assault Cavaliers in two major victories in both of which he bested assault class Omnimechs with his new Summoner.
With the death of Khan Tyler the warriors of Clan Ice Hellion elected him to the second highest post in their clan. James Lienet had hardly assumed the office of saKhan when his warrior abilities were challenged by his long time nemesis Star Colonel Zetheran Cage. The Trial was short and fierce, fought in true Ice Hellion fashion. Zetheran Cage rode a Fire Moth D and engaged saKhan Lienet's Mist Lynx C some scattered woods along half a kilometer of a small stream. For thirty seconds lasers flew from both OmniMechs, hitting little more than trees. Gaining a few meters of high ground saKhan Lienet was able to place an ER Large Laser beam into the torso of the lighter machine, gutting it's engine.
Several months later reports of an unsanctioned Hellion offensive on the world of Londerholm by elements of the second line Zeta Prime Galaxy targeted enclaves of both the Coyote and Smoke Jaguar Clans. A scant 72 hours later the Broadsword class dropship Siberia was seen burning towards Londerholm. Witnesses of the following trial note that it was no contest. The trial lasted over a full minute, long for an Ice Hellion duel but no less deadly. The CO of Zeta Prime charged confidently into the circle of equals in a Stormcrow B but was soon staggering as he tried to track the rapidly moving Viper B piloted by the saKhan. Planting both of the Stormcrow's feet the Galaxy Commander fired withering barrage after barrage of laser fire, 95% of which missed. James Lienet's gunnery was far more accurate and precise, his final ER PPC blast did not leave enough of the disgraced commander to even take a DNA sample from the blasted remains of his cockpit. James Lienet was definitely the undisputed saKhan of Clan Ice Hellion.
The shocking death of Khan Blackmon Rood, at the hands Loremaster Tracy Cage in a Trial of Grievance over certain policies of Rood's threw the Hellion Clan Council into uproar. What saKhan James Lienet did next has never been seen and probably never will be again in Clan Ice Hellion. Knowing that it was service to the Ice Hellion Clan, not personal ambition, that drove Tracy Cage to challenge her Khan, saKhan Lienet removed the rank insignia from the fallen Khan and placed it on the uniform of Tracy Cage. Choosing to defer his right of succession to Tracy Cage strengthened the Ice Hellion Clan. For the first time in decades the leadership of Clan Ice Hellion was united, at last allowing our Clan to focus on external threats.
However, Tracy Cage's reign as Khan did not last long, as she contracted the Babylon Plague during an outbreak of a new bacterial strain resistant to normal inoculation. Forced to step down, James was selected as her chosen heir and was unanimously elected by the Bloodnamed warriors of the Clan. His choice of saKhan, Loremaster Jonathan Wick, was also unanimously elected as well. The good working relationship of Tracy Cage and James Lienet continue with James Lienet and Jonathan Wick and is stronger than before, leaving Clan Ice Hellion ready for the return to the Inner Sphere and whatever else the future might hold.

INTER-CLAN  RELATIONS

Blood Spirit Clan Emblem CLAN  BLOOD  SPIRIT

QUESTIONABLE: This clan has always kept to themselves. Now is no different from the past and I think that it would be best if it stayed that way.

Burrock Clan Emblem CLAN  BURROCK

FAVORABLE: The new Khan, Hawk Polczyk, has done much for his clan. With him at the helm they should go far.

Cloud Cobra Clan Emblem CLAN  CLOUD  COBRA

FAVORABLE: This clan's warriors have been very silent of late, a fact that is not encouraging. Nevertheless, I believe a true warrior's heart belongs to members of the Cloud Cobra Clan.

Coyote Clan Emblem CLAN  COYOTE

FAVORABLE: Another new Khan, Corson Steele, seems to be a capable leader. His recent two out of three victories in a series of Trials against the Wolf saKhan was most impressive. I watch with interest to see if the Coyotes can return to their former glory.

Diamond Shark Clan Emblem CLAN  DIAMOND  SHARK

FAVORABLE: Possessing an enclave on Babylon automatically puts us in contact with the Sharks, a fact that is fortunate, otherwise we would probably have had little dealings with this Clan outside of the merchant caste.

Fire Mandrill Clan Emblem CLAN  FIRE  MANDRILL

FAVORABLE: Khan Benjamin Faraday is a much wiser and less abusive leader than his predecessor. I now am willing to co-exist with this Clan. A drastic change in thought I know, but there has been a drastic change in leadership.

Ghost Bear Clan Emblem CLAN  GHOST  BEAR

FAVORABLE: The strong bear and the strong clan. Contact so far has been favorable. I do not want to have this Clan as an enemy, especially when there is not reason we should be foes. They are opposites in many regards, but that is not a problem; they have what all children of Kerensky should have: a Warrior's honor.

Goliath Scorpion Clan Emblem CLAN  GOLIATH  SCORPION

FAVORABLE: The Goliath Scorpion Khan is known for his plans and ideas throughout all the Kerensky Cluster and Pentagon. The value of these plans is a matter of debate that few support. I will await the passage of time to deal out my judgment. In the mean time the Scorpions remain defensive allies of the Hellions.

Hell's Horses Clan Emblem CLAN  HELL'S  HORSES

NEUTRAL: The new Khan of the Hell's Horses seems to have a much better head for politics in the Grand Council than his predecessor. Hopefully this will allow the Horses to turn over a new leaf. For now we remain neutral.

Jade Falcon Clan Emblem CLAN  JADE  FALCON

FAVORABLE: A powerful Clan with a powerful Khan. Will Khan Kaervek Pryde's quest to make the Jade Falcons the strongest naval presence be the fall or greatest rise of the Jade Falcons to date? No matter the outcome, this friendship is desirable.

Nova Cat Clan Emblem CLAN  NOVA  CAT

FAVORABLE: Visions are the interesting paradox of this clan. Currently that does not seem to be affecting relations, so I will leave that for a note only. Sharing two worlds places the Nova Cats on either our best of friend or worst of foes list - there can be no middle ground. For now they are the former and I have no desire to move them to the latter.

Smoke Jaguar Clan Emblem CLAN  SMOKE  JAGUAR

FAVORABLE: A deadly beast, and a deadly clan. They make very suitable friends and allies for the Ice Hellions. If anyone can match our hot heads it is this Clan. Fortunately we see eye to eye on many issues and are thus friends.

Snow Raven Clan Emblem CLAN  SNOW  RAVEN

NEUTRAL: The Snow Raven's seem too interested in only one thing: warships. As long as they stay away from our enclaves and Warriors that interest is by no means a troubling thought.

Star Adder Clan Emblem CLAN  STAR  ADDER

POSSIBLE: Friendly but yet not willing to commit, relations are cool. I am willing to befriend them, but I can not do all the work. For now I am content to sit back and watch.

Steel Viper Clan Emblem CLAN  STEEL  VIPER

FAVORABLE: Probably the toughest Warriors outside of Clan Ice Hellion, the Steel Vipers are not a clan to be provoked. For now I will leave the question of toughest Warriors unanswered, and as far as I am concerned it need not be anytime soon. Like a true Crusader, I would rather use my resources restoring the Star League.

Wolf Clan Emblem CLAN  WOLF

FAVORABLE: The split political holdings of the Khans could prove to be their downfall, however, I find this unlikely. The Wolf is not one to succumb to anyone, though the only one with the strength would be itself. Both Khans, as befitting the children of Kerensky, are interested in the Clans as a whole. I believe one of the next two ilKhans could come from this Clan.
