BETA  GALAXY

Also known as The Lithe Kill, Beta Galaxy is often overshadowed by Alpha. A rivalry extending back over two centuries drives the Warriors of both Galaxies to outperform their counterparts.
Beta Galaxy is known to bend the rules of zellbrigin on occasion, often using entire Stars involved in swarming attacks against larger foes, before bidding amonst themselves for the kill. While not a breech of zellbringin under the strictest interpretation, which states that it is only unfair to kill an opponent by swarming, the practice of weakening targets is permissible, though most other Clans prefer not to acknowledge this loophole. Most Khans allow their subcommanders to decide whether or not to use swarm tactics, so long as it is continued to be used only against larger opponents and no kills are made.
The unit insignia for Beta Galaxy features a leaping ice hellion superimposed over a diagonal SLDF-style chevron.

200th Attack Cluster

The 200th traces its lineage back to the 200th Dragoon Regiment of the Star League Defense Force. Stephan Cage, first Khan of Clan Ice Hellion and commander of the Third Battalion chose to name the first Hellion Cluster after his former SLDF unit, a designation which lives on to this day.

Though originally the senior Khan's Keshik, the 7th and 200th Attack Clusters swapped Galaxies in 2851, when a rising Khan chose to stay with the 7th rather than take control of the 200th. The saKhan typically leads the 200th now, though occasionally the senior Khan decides to command from the 200th rather than the 7th. But the tradition Khan Cage began is slowly dying: no kaKhan has led the 200th in over 50 years.

Never in the history of Clan Ice Hellion has the 200th Attack Cluster not been commanded by either the Khan or saKhan. Aspiring Star Captains understand that they must leave the 200th to become Star Colonels.

121st Hellion Lancers

The 121st prides itself in the taking the Ice Hellion fighting mantra to its extreme. Using lighter than average 'mechs, even by Ice Hellion standards, has resulted in a number of embaressing defeats for the 121st in the past, but the speed of these 'mechs allow entire stars to usually escape if outmatched. Because of this, the 121st usually receives assignment only against other light Clusters or is paired with one of the other Beta Galaxy Clusters in larger engagements.

126th Hellion Lancers

The 126th is unusual in the Hellion's Claws, and would be in any other Clan's Touman as well. Evenly split between Omnimechs and Omnifighters, the two types of Warriors of this cluster frequently argue and try to prove their methods against the others. The Mechwarriors view the Omnifighters as supporting their ground role; the pilots see the 'mechs as clean up forces for use after they have disposed of their bomb racks. It is often the genotype of the Star Colonel who ultimately decides which method is used in battle, and usually this is a Aerospace pilot, much to the dismay of the Mechwarriors.

90th Striker Irregulars

The 90th Strikers contains the best of the freeborns of the Ice Hellions. Always commanded by a Trueborn, the freeborns nonetheless fight well, for failure results in demotion to Delta Galaxy - or worse. For freeborns there is little greater honor than command of a unit in the 90th; for trueborns, there is little worse, as the 90th is generally considered the topic of many jokes among the other Clusters of Beta Galaxy.

The 90th is also one of the few Ice Hellion Clusters organized as Binaries rather than Trinaries.
