We paint our holy icons on durable pieces of wood, which we dry in the sun so as to be time resistant. First, we glue a textile cloth on the wood using the traditional animal glue called rabbitglue. After that we create a bottoming from the same material in many layers and smooth it. Then we apply the 22 carats gold sheets of the icon on this surface. Using the anthivolos, a prepared pattern, we transfer the chosen theme of the icon on the suitably prepared surface. The painting of the icon begins using earthly colours according to the modest shades of the Orthodox iconography. The colour powder is mixed with egg and the painting begins using the several brushes.
