Icy Bay School

Greetings!
Welcome to my classroom.

My favorite thing about Icy Bay School is the my association with the students. The parents and community are very supportive of the school, and the students come prepared and ready to learn. We are like one big family.

Our school is different than other public schools because it is a K-12 grade one-room schoolhouse in a very remote location.

My favorite subjects are Science and History. Science - because of its dedication in finding the truth. History - because it helps us to understand and have empathy for the people in the world we live in; both past and present.

I think what makes Icy Bay School harder than some schools is its commitment to excellence.

Knowledge is potential power. A good well-rounded Education helps to build a strong foundation of knowledge in which to draw from. It is the application of that knowledge that is "Real Power!"

Icy Bay is a beautiful place. We live in the largest temperate rainforest in the world. The temperature is moderated by a warm current flowing in the Pacific. The trees are big and thick, the mountains majestic and glaciated, and the fauna is in abundance. Our fauna includes Brown (grizzly) and Black bear, moose, wolves, foxes, lynx, beaver, porcupines, squirrels, and wolverines just to name a few of the land animals. Often we can see seals, sea otters, whales and other marine wildlife. The streams are full of Salmon so thick that I've never used a fishing pole, but prefer to catch them with my bare hands. The heavens are filled with eagles, geese, swans, and ducks.

I also have been adopted by a 130 lbs. Malemute named "Spock". He patrols the school yard for bears and wolves during recess.

The one thing I do miss about "civilization" is Pizza Hut and the video store. I enjoy a good pizza and video on a Friday night! Other than that, it just doesn't get any better.

Last summer I spent in South America. I hope you enjoyed my web page.
