2002 Sam Myers Regatta

This year's Sam Myers Memorial Regatta brought 70 boats to the sailing club. Unfortunately, the wind gods were not cooperative. The race committee bravely sent out seven class starts to drift and sweat in the summer heat and windless conditions.
On Sunday morning, the ACA Canoes paddled out to the starting line with a bit of promising breeze for the 9 am start only to be disappointed later, as they were over an hour getting to the first mark.

The main fleets had less luck. Boats were rigged and ready, but most of them did not even hit the water. The race committee put the day's schedule on postponement until weather signs and reports became undeniably clear that this day too would not give us enough wind to even start a race.

Nonetheless, members and guests alike left the club glad, at least, that they had caught up with old friends.

2003 will be another year. Sam Myer's Siver Anniversary.
