Frank Ewing Straightens Out the Recent PA/OH Boat Regulation Confusion

I have spoken to both Pete Houghton (Pymatuning State Park) and Joseph Russell (PA Fish and Boat Commission) about the regulations as they apply to PSC. Their consensus is:

  1. All boats kept on PSC grounds overnight must have a mooring permit.
  2. Any boat with a motor (gas or electric) must be registered in PA (Having a motor bracket implies that a motor may be used and should be registered in PA also.)
  3. Sail only boats do not have to be registered (but see rule 1).
  4. Sail only boats can be registered in Ohio if the owner is an Ohio resident (but see rule 1). This allows the boat to be sailed in Ohio as well as at PSC.
