Alonzo is one of the main toms in the Jellicle tribe. He appears to be right under Munkustrap in the chain of command. Depending on where you see CATS, he will have a different coloration. In the London productions, Alonzo will be a black and white tom, while he will be a brown and white tom on Boadway. But no matter the color, his distinctive pattern of spots and stripes makes him easy to spot on stage.While he doesn't have many speaking parts, aside from the Prologue and the Jellicle Ball, he does a good ammount of dancing and takes center stage in fighting Macavity after Munkustrap has been injured.
While there is little but fan speculation to back this up, some people think that Alonzo may be related in some way to Munkustrap, or that he is involved with Demeter in some way. Of course, he's also been seen doing a bit of dancing with Cassandra as well, so there's another possible queen for this rather dashing looking tom.
