Linux has just about every kind of network server there is, including
web servers (like Apache, the
most popluar webserver ever), FTP servers, IRC, MUD, Sendmail (which carries about 80%
of the mail on the Internet), and much, much more. If there's anything
you've ever wanted to play with, or install for your business, Linux
is the way to go.
Of course, because of how inexpensive Linux is, you can do all
of the above without spending tens of thousands of dollars. You can do
it for less than $100!
