Education

Born and brought up in Halisahar, my schooling was completed there. To begin with, the mane of the primary school I studied in was "Khelaghar" (Playhouse). Interesting, isn't it? Then came the secondary school - "Halisahar Annapurna Balika Vidyalaya". Here I was showered with most memorable encouragement and affection from the teachers among whom one was my mother. The higher secondary education was received from "Halisahar High School".

Then the episode changed. I left my hometown back as I headed towards Kolkata to attend Jadavpur University. Here not only I received my B.Sc degree in Physics ranking 4th in the university, but I learned to love and appreciate the subject in proper way here. I would ever nurture in my mind the thrilling moments my passionate professors had gifted me with. I miss every moment of the lively discussions with a bunch of my fellow students and professors. And together with university, I would also like to remember with deep respect and admiration, the professors of Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, who never turned down any of our requests to arrange lectures on any subject any time.

Another breakthrough came when in the summer of 2002, I visited Inter University Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune during the Introductory Summer School on Astronomy and Astrophysics. Here, I fell in love with gravitation. I liked doing the project on Gravitational Waves under Dr. Sanjay. K. Sahay so much that I took up the same subject for summer project in 2003 which I did as a part of the Vacation Students Programmee, IUCAA under Prof. Sanjeev .V. Dhurandhar.

I have done my M.Sc in Physics in IIT Bombay, department of physics. I was the topper of the department. Those days, my research interest was in black holes and my project on the same was completed under Prof. P. Ramadevi.

Now, recently, I have joined IUCAA as a research scholar and I plan to do my PhD on Gravity Waves.
