Tips Here are a few tips for beginner chess players. 1) Do not under estimate the power of a pawn. One pawn advantage can mean the one in an end game. 2) Do not move pawns up unless you have a good reason. Pawns are like a shield that you can move up, but not move back. The more your pawns move up, the bigger gap there is for you opponent to get behind and torture you. 3) No matter how good of a move you think you are about to make, just take a few seconds to make sure it isn't a blunder. Many new people make blunders thinking they are making a good move. 4) Develop your pices early in the game. Attacking together puts more pressure on your enemy than if you are attacking with one pice. 5) Castle your king as soon as you can. It is always smart to keep your king safe. 6) Look for forks and pins. And yeah, check mates too. :) |
