The idea behind the Intelligent Home project is to build security system and install inside the model house. This security system will be incorporated with voice automation. When the security systems installation is completed, the voice automation will take over serving as the primary controller of the Intelligent Home.
The Intelligent Home will be consisted of motion detector, radar-base motion detector, photo-sensor motion detector, passive infrared motion detector (PIR), sound alarm, and control box which will interface with voice automation.
The motion detector is to detect motion that is any movement within the specified perimeter.
An example of a radar-base motion detector is an automatic door opener. The box above the door sends out burst of microwave radio energy (ultrasonic sound waves), and then waits for the reflected energy to bounce back. If there is nobody in front of the door, the radio energy will bounce back in the same pattern. But if somebody enters the area, the reflection pattern is disturbed. When this happens, the sensor sends a signal and the door open. In the security system, the sensor sends an alarm signal when the reflection pattern in a room is disturbed.
The photo-sensor motion detector consisted of focused light (laser beam) and a light sensor. In the home security, the beam is aimed at the light sensor across a passageway in your house. When somebody walks between the light source and the sensor, the path of the beam is block briefly. The sensor registers a drop in the lights level and send a signal to the control voice automation.
The Passive infrared motion detector, (PIR), sees the infrared emitted by an intruder’s body heat. The sensors detect a sharp increase infrared energy. There will always a fluctuation of heat energy in an area. The PIR detector is designed to trigger the alarm only if infrared energy levels change very rapidly.
The Control Box will be incorporated with the voice automation. This will be the brain of the Intelligent Home. The voice automation will determine how to sound the alarm through various methods, either by digital voice, siren, or page etc. The voice automation can also be capable of turning the security on or off through various methods of programming (please see software).
Once the basic layouts are in place, we can improve the Intelligent Home to serve the project needs. However, if there is room for improvement or enhancement, there should be a discussion among the project teams and members to produce a better product.
The Intelligent Home’s project had one goal that is to complete the project on the require schedule by the instructor and it must work.
We have one common goal as a team to graduate. Let make this happen
