Internet

E-Commerce, E-Mail, and Entertainment
The Internet is mainly fueled by three things, eCommerce, communication, and entertainment. The emergence of mobile Internet creates a captive audience for these facets of the Internet, because unlike their desktop Internet counterparts, they don't have other choices with what to do with their mobile devices.

The popularity of SMS on the mobile phone on the mobile end, and the widespread use of electronic mail (e-mail), chat, discussion groups on the Internet end will converge with mobile Internet. Now the mobile Internet user can access the communication applications available over the Internet through the access device and communicate not only with people who have access devices but with people connected through fixed Internet connections.

Multimedia and gaming applications are also used not only on the Internet but also in the wireless devices. The popularity of videogames on Gameboy, and Snake on Nokia handsets shouldn't make the transition difficult. The added feature of easy access and mobility makes interactive gaming more attractive to users, especially the young.

One thing to look forward to in the mobile Internet, is that companies are still trying to figure out a way to address the issue advertisements. Advertisements on the Internet will become less intrusive because of the limited display of most handheld devices. However, there is little doubt that advertisements will disappear, after all, its the price to pay for the "free" information on the Internet.

As a Whole
As a whole, the perception of users of the Internet is something that can never really be accurately predicted at the onset of the introduction of the technology. However, for GPRS, and the promises of quality information content, immediacy, and ease in use, it can be safe to conclude that mobile Internet users will see the Internet as one that is more convenient, and more valuable as it is. The Internet perception of users will be that of a better source of information.
