1981-A season cut in half For about two months, June 12th through July 31 the players went on strike cutting the season in half. In the first half the Mariners finished 21-36 dispite Maury Mills being fired. The new manager, Rene Lachemann was believed to be the best thing that ever happened to the Mariners. Under his management they won seven of their first ten games with him making 1st place look even closer. Soon after their hopes were smashed after a ten game losing streak.
