Virtual Communities |
I never actually thought there would be ANY communities on Cubism before I looked. I was wrong, good thing I checked! It actually took a lot of searching to do, but I did find a few communities revolving around Cubism. Who would have thought people actually discuss Cubism on the Net? The "Cubism and Picasso Forum Frigate", is a site where anybody and everybody can post anything they want, reagarding Cubism or Picasso. There is also live Chat room where people can openly discuss the opinions based on their perception. Most people that join these chats or forums are "die-hard fans" of Cubism. And sometimes it's just humurous to disagree with their opinions in order to stir up trouble and large debates over who is right or wrong! However, I also found that on the site there was a lot of junk mail being posted, having abosolutley nothing to do with Picasso or Cubism. Others specifically went on the Forum to ask a question regarding the subject. Some recieved answers and others did not. This to me, seems like a lack of interactivity and no sense of communication between the users. I also found another forum called PicassoPl on Talk City. This site more or less has the same affect on its users; to discuss the works of artists and to give their opinions on those art pieces. On this site, a person must sign up to be part of any conversation and one may even set up their own chat room where you can talk about a particular subject. I joined this forum and one person had asked the questioned "what is art?" and happened to receive numerous answers from people. This must have been the best forum I had joined so far. Also, the Cubisitic website contains a message board where people may once again post their thoughts and opinions based on Cubism. This message board was very similar to the first one I mentioned above. A huge lack of interactivity, where barely anyone posted messages. I also found something that might interest people who want to make their on chat rooms. On the the msn webstie, there is an actual place where you can make your own chat room. This is very interactive, seeing as anyone may make a chat room and either talk to friends or people around the world. When I joined these forums, I came to realize that not an extensive number of people join Cubism chats and forums and therefore, it is clear that not too many fans know that these sites exist. I did find it amusing to bother some people on those sites, but it would be more interesting to spark up another conversation like the one "What is art?". So all you Cubist fan, GET OUT THERE AND CONVERSE!!! I'm sure there are many more chat rooms and similar forums, but I have just not found them. I would think that maybe, there are more of these such sites in situated and promoted around countries that have a more art-based society, such as Italy. |
