STUART: THE DEATH |
The following below are quotes from Stuarts loved ones. For everyone that knew Stuart, he had a different impact on them. After Stuart died, many family members and friends had a hard, very hard, time living life without him. Many say that he is the type of guy that was always sweet and caring towards everyone. Stuart's family in particular, those that spent the majority of their time with Stuart, had some very touching things to say when they were asked about how they felt about it. I hope these quotes below will give you a better understanding of how much of an impact one person can have on the lives of so many other. ( Note: Please pay close attention to the quote by Stuarts mother.) |

" He lived so much in such a short time" Say Kalus. " Every second of his short time he was doing something. He saw ten times more than other people. His imagination was fantastic. His death was a tragdey. He would have done so much" |

" I looked up to Stu" Says John. " I depended on him to tell me the truth, the way I do with Paul today. Stu would tell me if something was good and I'd beleive him" |
Even today, they( the Beatles) still miss him. It's strange to think that by 1962, the one who looked upon as the cleverest beatle had died. The deathof Stu was in a way a macabre climax to their year of apparently getting nowhere and feeling depressed. But back in liverpool in the late autumn of 1961, just before Stu collapsed, the something John was looking for was at last about to happen. - The Beatles |

He did have medical treatment, but nothing seemed to help. " He came back from a specialist one day and said he didn't want a black coffin like everyone else. He'd just seen a white coffin in a window and he wanted that.

"At half-past four I was in my bedroom at home in Liverpool. I felt as if a great strong cold wind came through that house, lifted me up and laid me across the bed. For 15 or so minutes, not a muscle in my body was capable of movement. That was the time, I discovered later, when Stuart was dying."

THOUGHTS ON WHAT CAUSED STUARTS HEMMORAGE: |
Below are 3 stories from family members and friends on events that happened before Stuart had died and after that I feel have great importance |
One day, toward the end of 1961, Stu collapsed at the Art College in Hamburg and was brought home. " He'd been getting a lot of headaches" says Astrid, " but we just put it down to working too hard at College".
Stu went back the next day, but in February 1962, it happened again. He collapsed, was brought back to Astrid's, and was taken to his room. This time he stayed there. He wrote long thrity page letters to John, did endless drawings and paintings, or just walked round and round his room. He had violent headaches and temper tantrums which made it difficult for Astrid and her mother to look after him.

"Stu's brain was actually expanding -- getting too big for the space it floated in. It's a very rare medical condition, but it can happen. Even if Stuart had lived, he would have been blind and probably paralyzed. He wouldn't have been able to paint. He would have preferred to die."

Millie Sutcliffe bequeathed Stu's brain for scientific research at the hospital which had been treating him. Eighteen months later, a set of German x-ray plates, taken after Stu's death, were brought across to Liverpool by Astrid. They revealed, for the first time, the presence of a small brain tumor. The Hamburg radiologist had attached a note in English: "Note the depressed condition of the skull."
Studying the pictures, Millie remembered a night, some three years before, when Stu had been playing bass with the Beatles, and she had found him in his room late at night with blood pouring from his head after he had been kicked in a scuffle outside Litherland Town Hall. -Beatles references: http://www.getback.org/breflib/studead.html |
