Lima possesses some interesting museums with exibits of magnificent pieces from the pre-Columbian and colonial periods.

 

DRAMA

Theater is quite popular in Lima but less so outside the capital. It goes without saying that you need good Spanish to really appreciate it.

*The Teatro Municipal in Lima is the venue for symphony, opera, plays, and ballet. Other venues are the Teatro Segura and the Teatro Arequipa. All these theaters have plays in Spanish.

October. Lima celebrates its two bullfights in the Plaza de Acho, the oldest building in South America.

October 18. You can see huge religious processions in the capital in honour of the Lord of Miracles.

LIMA displays a rich Spanish colonial architecture. When the city was founded,18 January 1535 it grew rapidly around the ruins of civilizations that had developed in the Rimac Valley, so a lot of buildings are built on top of ancient Pachacamac ruins and other pre-Inca civilizations.
