Ancestor sends his sword into the air where it casts an image like the face of death. A thick killing air envlopes our heroes. The Supreme cries out 'It's Ancestor's precious sword, DEATH SPIRIT!. Our heroes all prepair as the sword sweeps down towads them. Barbarian tosses his cloak to try to entangle the sword while Gold Dragon swings his nanchuka to bat it away. It's Jing Lao, however, who manages to force it away using his external kung fu. The sword is sent flying into the air but then zooms back down towards Zhao Shi Zhi. Barbarian tries to deflect the sword using Ancient Electric Bolt Grade 32 but Zhao Shi Zhi gets thrown backwards. Death Spirit withdraws after the single attack and begins spinning around pleased that it has drawn fresh blood. Suddenly blood begins to spray from a wound in Zhao's forehead and his whole body shatters. It's a horrible sight and The Supreme begins to consider that they may not stand any chance of defeating Ancestor.

Now Jing is really mad and he vows to stop Ancestor's blood sword. He pulls out a strange double ended dagger and raises it above his head. Crying out to Buddha for assistence, Jing Lao begins to draw energy from the sky into his dagger. He tosses the weapon into the air where it smacks into Death Spirit. Ancestor and Jing Lao then begin a battle of inner power using their blades. Jing Lao rushes forward to try and gain an advantage while Ancestor remains seated a distance away. Moving within a few feet of the action Jing uses his blade to entangle Death Sword in some kind of energy field but the sword breaks free from the encounter and begins attacking Jing Lao directly. Jing, however, does an excellent job of avoiding the swords swooping attacks. The sword takes one more swing around and aims itself directly at Jing Lao. It most likely would have struck it's target if it weren't for the timely intervention by Barbarian who flings his metal staff into Death Spirit's path. The staff is sliced in two and the sword is driven into the ground right in front of Jing Lao. Barbarian tries to grab the sword but it's immediately yanked from his grasp and resumes it's attack. It knocks Gold Dragon down but gets kicked into the sky by Tiger Wong. Jing Lao tosses his dagger into the sky controlling it to smack into Death Sword repeatedly. To his shock and dismay Jing Lao's dagger shatters and falls to the ground in pieces. Death Spirit returns to it's masters hand.

Summary Added: July 29, 2002

As the fight has progressed, Ancestor's sword has grown even more formidable. How can our heroes resist it, how will they be able to destroy it? As the wind swirles around from the might of Ancestor, Jing Lao cries out for everyone to listen. He has a plan to combine the power of all five of the fighters into his own body. Tiger is concerned that it will literally shatter Jing Lao's body but Lao orders him not to question. Each fighter lays a hand on Lao and begins to imbue him with their own kung fu style. Barbarian's Ancient Electric Bolt, Tiger Wong's Nine Suns Kung Fu, Gold Dragon's Golden Armor and Guy's style (whatever the heck it was called). Jing Lao leaps into the air to face Death Spirit head on. He unleashes a blast of mental energy creating a barrier around himself but to no avail. Death Spirit shatters the shield forcing Jing to catch the blade between his palms. Increasing his inner power, Ancestor drives Jing Lao backwards and then spins him around using Star exchange moves large object. Faster and faster they spin until Ancestor raises his hand sending the two flying in opposite directions. Both are sent crashing into separate cliffs. Jing Lao's body makes a sizable crater in the face of the cliff. He expels a long stream of blood and then collapses to the ground. Our heroes approach Ancestor who stands above them on a small cliff. Ancestor causes a landslide and rides it down towards our heroes.

Elsewhere we find Chan Ou Wan trapped in a prison. He awakens from some kind of drug induced slumber to the sight of a snake lunging forward and biting his arm. The room is in fact filled with poisonous snakes. The last time we saw Chan was way back in issue 722 when he was fleeing from Barbarian and Guy after leading them to Ancestor's cave. Chans prison has no doors and ceiling is a good forty to fifty feet high with a grate in the center. Chan makes a leap for the grate but finds himself becoming dizzy and drops to the ground. He grabs up a couple of snakes and sqeezes their blood into his mouth. Remember that Chan is actually strengthened by poison. Instead however he collapses to the ground. Nearly unconcious Chan watches helplessly as a man drops from the ceiling and injects him with something from a syringe that cause him to black out. Later, Chan regains conciousness but the man is gone.
