During the last fifteen years, the india foundation has presented over 400 performing artists, hosted five festivals of films from India

shown nearly 100 art films from India, all with English sub-titles, six dance festivals

four festivals of classical music, four arts and photo exhibits, folk dances of India by Aavishkar,

locally produced one adaptation and two original plays KHOJ, NARMAD : MY LIFE and

MARK TWAIN INDIA with McAvoy Layne

and talks by over 30 scholars from and on India

Dayton Council On World Affairs

  • May, 1986. Presented a play called GHANSIRAM KOTWAL at the Boll Theater, University of Dayton,
  • A talk by Dr. Ram Joshi, Vice Chancellor of University of Bombay and a noted Gandhian Scholar on ‘Relevance of Gandhi Today’ at University of Dayton,
  • Luncheon meeting with Consul General of India, Hon. P N Nazareth,
  • Luncheon meeting with India’s Ambassador to the U S, Hon. S S Ray,

University of Dayton

  • Visit to the UD campus and talk by India’s Ambassador to the US Hon. Abid Hussain,
  • Festival of Films from India, ‘Films by Five Indian Women Film Directors’,
  • Panel discussion on ‘Life and Literature of Narmad, 19th century poet, educationist and social reformer from Western Indian state of Gujarat and presentation of the play ‘Narmad: My Life’ Both events cosponsored with the Indian Students Group at University of Dayton,
  • Breakfast meeting with Lord Meghnad Desai, London School of Economics’ Center for Research on Globalization, attended by the officials and faculty members, University of Dayton and hosted by Dr. Bruce Hitchner and Center for International Programs,
  • Panel discussion and reading from the English translation of the play that has been banned in India called ‘This Is Nathuram Godse...’ with Dr. Bruce Hitchner - Moderator, Dr Jim Malarkey, Chair, Dept. of Humanities, McGregor School, Antioch University, Dr. Dinesh Paliwal, Consul-Education and Culture, Consulate of India, New York, Marsha Hanna, Director, Human Race Theater Co., Dayton, Prof. Bruce Comer, Dept. of Theater and Film, Wright State University and Harish Trivedi

  • Two weeks spent by Visiting Scholar Dr. Manisha Tikekar of University of Bombay, India. She talked about ‘Status of Women in India’, ‘ Indian Political System’ and ‘Business Opportunities In India’. The last talk was at the College of Business and Administration, WSU

  • Rabindranath Tagore India’s Nobel laureate by Harish Trivedi (McGregor School, Antioch)

MEDFEST
in
Middletown

A two- week long culture fest celebrating India, cosponsored with Medfest of Middletown in 1989. Events included, dances of India, festival of films from India (films of Satyajit Ray), a science exhibition, exhibition of books and a publication of an anthology of poems by expatriate Indian poets living in the US and Canada called POETRY: INDIA. Poems in thirteen Indian languages with English translations of the same were published in this anthology.

Darke County Schools in
Greenville,Ohio

‘India’ - an all day celebration of Indian arts and culture for elementary school students. Over two hundred students and teachers participated in this event.
