VISA INFORMATION:
All foreign visitors to India need a visa. A tourist visa can be obtained
for up to 6 months' stay. Business visa applicants need a recommendation
form their companies. Tourist Visa applications(of Japanese nationals)
are usually processed in a day.
VISA FOR JAPANESE CITIZENS
1. Tourist visa Requirements:
i) Two recent photographs(passport size)
ii) Completed application form
iii) Passport with a minimum validity of six months
iv) Visa fee of Yen 5,500.- for six months
(Application form can be obtained from the embassy during consular hours.
Photocopies of application forms are also accepted. However, faxed application
form is not acceptable. Business Visa for Japanese nationals who are permanent
residents in Japan is usually issued on the following working day.)
2. Business Visa Requirements:
i) Completed application form
ii) Two recent photographs(passport size)
iii) Passport with a minimum validity of six months
iv) a letter of guarantee and a letter of recommendation from the concerned
Japanese company.
v) Visa fee :
- Yen.5,500.- for six months visa.

- Yen.8,850.- for one year visa.

3. Employment Visa Requirements:
i) Completed application form( Two sets)
ii) Two recent photographs(passport size)
iii) Passport valid for a minimum of six months
iv) Curriculum Vitae
v) Letter of Guarantee by the concerned Japanese company
vi) Copy of terms and conditions of employment from the company based
in India
vii) Approval of the Reserve Bank of India/Ministry of Industry, Government
of India, regarding the opening of a new office/business or the continuing
the office/business viii) Visa fee of Yen.8,850.- for one year
(Visa is extendable in India. Family members are entitled to Visa whose
validity will be co-terminus with the validity of the person who has the
employment visa)
4. Student Visa/ Research Visa Requirements:
i) Completed application form( Two sets)
ii) Two recent photographs(passport size)
iii) Passport valid for a minimum six months
iv) Confirmation letter of admission from University/School/Institute
recognized by the Government of India/State Government.
v) Proof of sufficient financial resources for meeting the expenses during
course.
vi) Visa fees of Yen.10,200.-
For some course of study and research work the issue of visa can
take time. Applicants are advised to apply well in advance with relevant
particulars.
The spouses of Indian nationals,and the persons of Indian origin,can
obtain a visa valid for five years. The visa fee is Yen 17,700. Proof
of the country of origin is required.
They are also eligible for PIO card ,which is valid for a period of
20 years and fees for the same is Yen.117,300/-
VISA FOR NON-JAPANESE CITIZENS
Citizens of countries not having reciprocal/special agreement with
India requested to file their application forms with the documents prescribed
for Japanese citizens and a copy of their alien registration card. Fees
of Yen.3,000.- is chargeable, in addition to normal visa fees from those
foreigners living in Japan for a period less than five years.
In case of US nationals, an additional Yen.2,700.- will be charged as
processing fee.
