Annabelle licking Kyra...
My cats are really bad. For some reason they have been ESPECIALLY bad since we moved to our new house! Here are some of the crazy things they do:
Annabelle and Kyra love to sit in windows and lean against the window screens. We recently put up a new screen onto the window in our bedroom and Annabelle and Kyra loved the new window they had to sit in. One morning I woke and Kyra was meowing at my frantically. I wondered what was going on, and something seemed odd or missing. I suddenly wondered where Annabelle was and looked at the window and discovered the screen hanging at an angle, and Annabelle was nowhere to be found. She had climbed onto the roof and what ended up happening was my neighbor got her down off the roof but didn't think I was home & left Annabelle by the porch, hoping that she wouldn't go too far. By this time I was wide awake & Annabelle had been gone about twenty minutes. I ran all over the front & back yard and called out Annabelle's name to no avail. Finally I headed back onto my neighbors' driveway, heading towards their back yard, hoping Annabelle was back there. I saw an orange blur going up the fence at the back of their property and I called out Annabelle's name, hoping it was her. It was, and that caught her attention. She turned her head around and saw me coming towards her and listened as I continued calling her name. I distracted her (she was about to jump down the other side of the fence towards who knows where!) until I could reach up & pull her down. She kicked and struggled the whole way into the house but I got her home safely! Since then we have nailed up that screen so it will never come down by accident again!

You get the idea...
Annabelle and Kyra were first put in the room that is now our "library" when we first moved in. Now, I know this one is not their fault but it was still irritating! Since there USED to be a litter box in that room, the cats would still use the CARPET as their litter box even after the box was removed. We of course put one back in the room & that solved the problem but it was inconvenient in the meantime... LESSON TO BE LEARNED: If you move cats to a new house or apartment put the litterbox in the place it is going to stay and keep it there!
Kyra keeps disappearing into every shadow and hiding under anything big enough to keep her covered...
I know our kitties love us a lot but I wish they would pick a better time to show it than 3 am! Kyra came into bed the other night (or shall I say early morning) and kept rubbing against my face until I woke enough to pet her... which I did halfheartedly for a few minutes before falling back asleep... at which point she loved me some more til I woke up again... with Kyra, it seems the only time she is not afraid to approach me is when I am lying down!
This particular item is not a BAD thing, in fact it's a good thing, but it was kind of funny so I thought I'd mention it here... Annabelle is really good at hunting, which is evidenced by her hunting down and eating all the moths that used to inhabit our house! In fact, she even taught Kyra how to do it so she has gotten in on the act, too!
Annabelle and Kyra are especially good at hampering ("the cat's act of getting right in the way of what you are doing to help keep you from doing it") and Annabelle especially loves to hamper when we do one of a couple activities. The recurring activity she loves most is when Chris changes the strings on one of his guitars, she loves to chase the loose end and attack it and pull it in places it shouldn't go. She loved to hamper when we were putting together and installing our blinds in the living room. She'll never get enough of hampering one or both of us tying our shoes. Even Kyra will get in on the act and hamper when we are trying to read a book or the newspaper...
Now that I have several fragile and non-fragile collectibles on the bookshelf on the side of my bed, the cats seem to especially enjoy knocking down a few. It seems that they climb onto the shelf and knock things down while up there although they may pull items down while standing on the floor or bed. The reason I don't know which is they wouldn't DARE to do it while I am around! I just end up coming home from work and finding half my stuff on the floor...
Annabelle has DECIDED that our coffee table in the living room is her favorite spot to sleep, and there seems to be nothing we can do to stop her. We tend to eat dinner on it occasionally and set other stuff there we don't want her to get into so every time we see her up there, we shoo her off. It doesn't help, though because many times we turn around & see her curled up there asleep and then we just don't have the heart to push her off since she's not doing anything wrong just then...
Annabelle and Kyra broke through the screen door going into the backyard while Chris was out back doing yard work. He looked up and saw both cats outside wandering around hte backyard. He picked Annabelle up and tried to act like nothing was wrong since he knew how easily Kyra might be scared. As he approached Kyra she bolted - and Chris was terrified she'd disappear under the deck but instead she ran straight back through the hole in the screen door! Unfortunately we haven't fixed the hole yet so we always have to leave the glass door closed...
One of the cats pulled the curtain rod in the guest bedroom down while trying to pull the curtains apart to get into the window...
