From "ER" to "The West Wing"
to "Boston Public" to the up-and-coming series "The American Embassy",
American television has become obsessed with basing shows off of buildings
where people do things, perhaps even work. However, some networks
are just catching on to the success of such shows. However, as we've
mentioned before, we've got mad connections in Hollywood, so we've got
the scoop on all the new dramas that are heading our way. Here they
are, in no particular order.
Premise: In this fast-paced
drama about the lives of 50 senators, inter-office politics (pun intended)
comes to life. Coming off the success of "The West Wing", Aaron Sorkin
seeks to make interesting the antics of the legislative branch while still
being thought-provoking and dialogue-driven. Such storylines will
include the inoperable brain tumor in Senator Thomas Carper (D-DE), the
bizarre haunting of Senator Jean Carnahan (D-MO) by deceased husband and
Senator-hopeful Mel Carnahan (D-HEAVEN), and the budding forbidden romance
between Senator Tom Daschle (D-SD) and Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson (R-TX)
It will also seek to answer the question: Will Senator Joe Biden (D-DE)
ever shut up?

Premise: A very personal
look into the lives of a close-knit team of workers at the DMV who think
they know all of each other's secrets, when in fact a shocking background
waits behind all of them. Christie (Played by Ellen DeGeneres) is
stark raving mad but hides it with special medicine. Todd is a racist.
Foreigner Ibrahim has a wife and kids in Kosovo. Teen intern Jesse
Kingsley wants to grow up to be a model (with dangerous consequences) and
comic relief Jack (Played by David Spade) is impotent, does PCPs, has AIDS,
and an illegitimate child on the way. Each of them is dealing with
an aspect of society, which will be dealt with through tears and long bouts
of dialogue episode by episode. All of this happens under the roof
of the most emotional DMV in the country.

Premise: Hey, those
heartless knuckleheads on Wall Street have emotions too! Trent Hartley
is an up-and-coming small-business financial advisor who is in for the
ride of his life when he's hurled into the world of the world economy upon
getting a new job on Wall St. Dealing with his 2 children and off-again-on-again
alcoholic wife is no picnic, especially when a sassy and brassy new broker
comes to town. Vivian St. Gerard is her name, and making money for
her clients is her game. How can Trent resist this dish with a diverse
stock portfolio and still stay faithful to his boozehound spouse?
Can he make it to his children's numerous school plays while still staying
long enough for the closing bell? And what about that new intern
that jokers around the office have nicknamed Chatty McHotass? All
this and more coming up on "The Stock Exchange"
