thru the Years

Gamal
Simorangkir, from Medan, North Sumatra
is the founding director of AUP Indonesian Chorale. He
pursued BM Music Education major
in Piano under the tutelage of Mr. Harold Galang, and devoted his
entire college years with the AUP Indonesian Chorale.
He started music
training at age 6 by taking piano lessons under his mother who is
a pianist. In 1994 he arranged and composed the official
school song of AUP College of Business, "We Lift Your Banner
High".
As a conductor,
he attributes his development to the following mentors: Noemi
Tanada, Minerva Penaranda, Joel Navarro and Dante Oblimar.
Gamal finished
his BM Music Education from AUP on March 2000. He is pursuing his
dream of establishing a music school of his own. Gamal currently
resides in California, USA.

Dante
Calahat Oblimar has earned three
baccalaureate degrees in music from Philippine Union College,
Philippine College of Music, and a masteral degree from Philippine
Women's University.
Mr. Oblimar has
many years of experiences as a chorale conductor of various choirs
around the Philippines, including the award-winning AUP
Ambassadors. He joined the AUP-IC in 1997 as a vocal lecturer,
clinician, adviser and choreographer--bringing the chorale into
greater heights chorale performances.
He attributes his
musical expertise from Prof Minerva Penaranda (AUP), Prof Joel
Navarro (UP), Mrs Locson (PWU) and Prof. Bermann of Germany.
Mr Oblimar is now
is a music instructor at Ekamai International School, Bangkok,
Thailand. He also
writes articles for music educators.

Aylwin
Yonathan is now at the helm of the
choir. As a senior music student under the
tutelage of Prof Corazon Coo, of AUP, he is one of the most
popular pianist in the campus.
He started piano
lessons since he was 5, composed a musical play "Negeri Doremi"
when he was 14, and has been arranging and composing choir pieces
ever since. Among his greatest work are: "The Overture and
Finale" of the production title Tribute to My Homeland,
including a repertoire of Indonesian Folk Songs.
Aylwin joined the
AUP-IC in 1997, and has became a notable accompanist for many years.
In February 1998 he received the "AUP's Most Outstanding
Musician." award.
