Three Women in a boat

SOLUTION:

1. As the sum was insufficient to arrive at a unique solution of the ages for the brother, there must be at least two solutions giving the same sum of ages. The only sum that corresponds to two solutions is 64 that either is given of the ages  7,7 and 50 or 5,10 and 49 respectively. Thus dad is 64.
 2. Only if the age of the vicar is known, the sentence "The vicar is oldest" give the information sufficient to decide which of the alternatives is true. Thus the age of the vicar is known.
 3. Only if the vicar is 50 the alternative 7,7,50 can be canceled. (If he is older both alternatives remains - if he is younger it is a contradiction)
Thus the ages of the women are 5,10 and 49 respectively. Dad is 64 and the vicar is 50.
