Grey Wagtail Wagtails are named for their habit of bobbing their tails every few seconds. The Grey Wagtail is more yellow than grey but there is another bird
called the Yellow Wagtail ( not found in Inishowen ) that has a yellow greenish back.
Pied Wagtail Although wagtails are water birds, this wagtail is just as likely to be seen on Buncrana Main St. as beside the river. These birds roost together in large
numbers in winter - they are famous for doing this in the trees of O'Connell St. in the centre of Dublin. Pied Wagtails also roost in the trees of Shipquay St. in Derry.

Grey Heron You will see the Heron standing motionless in the water waiting for a fish or eel to pass - then it strikes with it's spear like bill.
Dipper The Dipper is remarkable in being able to walk underwater to catch it's food of water invertebtrates of various kinds. If you spot one perching on a rock along the
river, just stand still and you may see it dip into the water for half a minute or so.
