March 2001. The whole family, excluding myself, went to Texas to visit our Aunt Jenny. She lives is a rural area close to the city of Bryan. My uncle is a doctor. Anyways, March is like the nicest time of year in this part of Texas so lots of the kids were out playing. The two Russians, Jared and Marie, went off by themselves as they often do. They went of into the forest and were exploring when they saw a strange animal that they had never seen before. So using their Russian common sense they did what? They chased after it and tried to catch it.
Let me describe this mammal that they chased. It was a little bit bigger than a cat and smaller than a dog. It had a large fluffy tail, black eyes, and longish snout. The animal's fur was mostly black with a thick white stripe running down the center of it's back and down it's tail. Of course most people know this as a...SKUNK.
They chased it for about 5 seconds before the skunk used its retaliation skills that it has perfected over the centuries. Jared got the blunt of the spray, Marie was behind Jared and didn't get sprayed as bad. they both shreeked and ran the other way. The two reeking bodies then rushed back to the house where people were just preparing for dinner. Using their genius again they ran into the house. Of course they brought the stink with them. The adults in the house immediatly knew that something was amiss and rushed to the scene of the stink. The scenes were trying to get upstairs leaving a trail of tainted air where ever they went. Fortunately the two were hearded out of the house with no contact to the normal smelling people. Once outside Jared refused to admit that he stunk. Marie had very little on her and was soon admited into the house. Jared on the other hand still refused to say tha he was the sourse of the stink. Finaly after much persuasion Jared changed his clothes. He was still banned from the house for the day. The floor and Jared both both had a skunky essence about them for a week. Both kids now know not to mess with strange animals in a strange country. I hope. |
