"Newspaper Announcement," Mrs. William Lawlor (1943): After an
illness of one day, Mrs. William Lawlor, age 75, passed away at her home in
Whitehead on Tuesday, Sept. 14th . The deceased was born and lived in this
community was loved and esteemed by all who knew her, and will be greatly missed
in her home where a kindly greeting and generous hospitality awaited all who
visited there. Interment took place at the family lot in Whitehead. The funeral
service was held at home, and was conducted by Rev.Mr. Thorpe of Canso United
Church. Mrs. Angus Feltmate of Whitehead led in the singing, Pallbearers were
her three grandsons, Messrs. Arklo, Lawrence and Rennie Munro, and her three
nephews Messrs. Gerald, Percy and Reginald Munro. Surviving to mourn their loss
are her husband, and four daughters, Mrs. Arthur Brown, Halifax; Mrs. Bert
Munroe and the Misses Bertha and Martha Feltmate, Whitehead; one son Perry
Feltmate, Winthrop, Mass.; two sisters, Mrs. Louden Munro, Whitehead; Mrs. Harry
Wilson, West Harwich, Mass; four brothers, John Fitzgerald, Whitehead; Adam,
Halifax; William, Stellarton; Joseph, Roxbury Mass. She is survived by 18
grandchildren. There were many beautiful floral offerings, cards and telegrams
of sympathy recieved.

found in my Aunt's scrap book, and is hand-dated in ink "i955", name
of newspaper not given: 'Louden Munroe, White Head, April 20 - The community of
White Head was saddened by the death of Louden Munroe which occurred at his home
on March 27. Deceased had been in ailing health for the past three years and had
received treatment at St Martha's Hospital, Antigonish, the Victoria General
Hospital, Halifax. He spent most of his eighty-four years in White Head, except
a number of years he went fishing out of the port of Gloucester, Mass,
during the days of wooden ships and iron men. Mr Munroe was twice married, his
first wife was the late Mary Gillis of Inverness. He leaves to mourn his wife,
the former Violette Fitz Gerald; eight sons, Hugh and Lawrence, Inverness; John,
Lynn, Mass; Gerald, Halifax; Burns, Quebec City; Percy, Russell and Reginald,
White Head. two daughters, (Christina) Mrs Beryl Ruggles, Detroit, Mich;
(Margaret) Mrs George Whynact, Lunenburg. Requiem Mass was celebrated by Rev. R
MacLeod, St Joseph's church, Port Felix. Interment was in St Joseph's cemetery.
Pall bearers were, Arklo, Lawrence, and Ronnie Munroe, Wilfred Conway, George
Fraser and John MacDonald.

Digdon. A graduate of St. Mary's and Mount Saint Vincent Universities, she
taught school for many years in Guysborough and Halifax Counties and in Halifax
City Schools. An active member of Saint Stephen's Parish, she served in numerous
capacities such as chairperson of the Parish council, past president of the
Catholic Women's League and faithful choir member. She had a love of music and
at one time was a member of the Chebucto singers. She was a volunteer with Meals
on Wheels. Surviving are her husband, Richard; sons, Don (Colleen), Fredericton,
N.B.; Keith (Susan), Texas; Paul (Fabia), Saint John, N.B.; grandsons, Patrick,
John, Michael, and Samuel; granddaughters, Karen, Lauren, Julia, and Molly;
sisters, Mabel MacKenzie, Stewiacke; Dorothy James, Halifax. She was predeceased
by grandson, Richard; brothers, Melvin, Everett, Harold, and Chester; sisters,
Lola, Hazel, and Helen. The remains are resting in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, with
visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday, March 7. Funeral service 10 a.m. Monday, March
8, in St. Stephen's Church, Father Gilbert Bertrand OMI officiating. Interment
will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may

Anastasia Walker, New Waterford, Jan 28 - The death of Mrs Anastasia Walker, 63,
took place in the Sydney City Hospital at noon on Friday. She had been admitted
the day before. A native of Queensport, N S., she as the daughter of the late Mr
and Mrs William O'Leary. Twice married, both husbands, James George and Fred
Walker , predeceased her, the latter about 15 years ago. She had resided in
Victoria Mines for the past three years with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr and
Mrs Roy Armsworthy. While here she was a member of St Alphonsus Parish. She is
survived by four sons and two daughters. Sons
are Albert George of Louisdale; Eldon George, Petit De Grat; Herman
Walker, Armdale, Kenneth Walker, Toronto. Daughters are Catherine, Mrs
Roy Armsworthy, Victoria Mines and Margaret, Mrs Allan Verchukok., RCAF, France.
One sister, Mrs Vincent Cahoon (Irene) of Lynn Mass, and two brothers, Arthur in
Queensport and William, Black's Harbour, New Brunswick , also survive. The
remains were scheduled to leave last night from the V J MacGillivray Funeral
Home, New Waterford, and taken to Queensport, where they will repose at the home
of her brother, Arthur. Burial will be held on Sunday afternoon with service at
St Vincent de Paul Church in Queensport.

1955, PROBABLY QUEENSPORT CEMETERY: Struck By Tree - Queensport - Alphonse
O'Leary, 64, was found Tuesday morning lying dead near a felled tree in The
Backlands, about three miles from his Queensport home. The body was discovered
by one of his two sons, who began a search for their father when he failed to
return from a wood cutting expedition on Monday. Coroner Percy Moulton
empanelled a jury and adjourned his inquest one week. Mr O'Leary had set out
alone early Monday. When he did not return Monday his family became alarmed and
began a search of the Backlands, a district he frequented on wood-cutting trips.
Surviving besides his wife are seven daughters, Mrs Roy Dobson of Half Island
Cove, Mrs Mary Casey of Queensport, Mrs Helen Turnbull in Ontario, Mrs Fancy of
Liverpool, Mrs Durant of Pomquet, Mrs Percy George of Whitehead and Mrs Nick
Carter of Queensport. two sons, Thomas and Osborne also survive. Funeral
arrangements have not been completed.

home in Half Island Cove Thursday morning, August 9th. He was 46 years of age
and had been enjoying excellent health until the time of his recent illness.
Surviving besides his wife, the former Agatha Nancy O'Leary of Queensport, are
four sons, Leonard, Harry, Arnold and Charlie, all at home and three daughters,
Joan of Halifax, Sadie and Lorraine at home. Also surviving are his mother and
father, Mr. and Mrs. William F. Dobson of Half Island Cove and seven sisters,
Mildred (Mrs. Fogarty), Hazel Hill; Blanche (Mrs. Jamieson), Queensport; May
(Mrs Henderson), Truro; Alexis, Toronto; Thelma (Mrs. Davidson), Vancouver;
Helen (Mrs. Davis), Bridgewater; Edrie, R.N. of Montreal, also four brothers,
Borden at home, Donald and Basil of Halifax, and William, Jr., of Kingston,
Ontario, also eight nephews and fifteen nieces survive. Remains are resting at
his home. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 P. M. from Half Island Cove
United Baptist Church with Rev. James Armstrong officiating. Interment will be
in the United Baptist Cemetery.

(Munro) Feltmate. He was a self-employed fisherman and carpenter; trustee of
Whitehead County School Board and active member of Grace United Church,
Whitehead. He is survived by his wife, the former Agatha Dobson; four daughters,
Evelyn Douglas-Fogarty, Beaverbank; Rebecca Hanlon, Dartmouth; Marjorie Tweedy,
Guysborough; Doreen Douglas, Haliburton, Ont.; three stepdaughters, Joan
Couture, Newfoundland; Sadie Floyd, Antigonish; Lorraine Dobson, Charlos Cove,
Guysborough County; son, Rev. Donald, Douglastown, N.B.; four stepsons, Charles
Dobson, Toronto; Arnold Dobson, Guysborough; Harry Dobson, Queensport,
Guysborough County; Leonard Dobson, Fox Island, Guysborough County; three
brothers, Donald, Mooseland, Halifax County; Austin, Whitehead; Everett, Port
Morien, Cape Breton; two sisters, Ada Munro, Halifax; Dora Snyder, Sheet

was predeceased by his first wife, the former Nellie Worth; an infant sister,
Ada. The body was cremated. Family will receive visitors 6-9 p.m. Sunday in
Grace United Church, where a memorial service will be 1 p.m. Monday. Burial will
be in church cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Alzheimers
