'Nottingham/Rock
City' -Sunday
1st September.
I got to Nottingham at about 6.30, didn't fancy waiting so I had a Maccy
Ds before hand and then qued for 5 mins. Secured my space dead center of
the stage with one lil girl in front of me on the barrier - great view!
An hour later of lil kids running around and screaming to Tainted Love,
the support band came on...didn't know the name but they were very
lively! Lots of jumping about and such...where do they find the energy?
Good band, I liked them. People were asking me "Who were they? The
lead singer and the guitarist are fit!" I replied "I dunno...but
I know what band are comming on next!"
God was the
crush heavy when they finally did appear on stage a half hour later!
Daves hair was flowing as ever as he smiled, gave a wave and proceeded
into Crushed Like Fruit. Simon's drums were bang bang banging away,
beating with his sticks rapidly. And Joe was just a mad man on stage!
Sweet satin! Jumping around, hopping up and down like a very excited
bunny! I got a few smiles from Dave and Simon and for some strange
reason Dave stared at me a lil through Firefly. It was nice to hear some
tracks I haven't heard before too but most I knew and sang along to with
joy, getting kicked in the head ocasionally by the passing crowd surfer.
"I want your baby!" were the fascinating words of some guy
with a gruff voice audible to all. At one point it was all quiet and you
could hear these lil girls going "Dave!!" over and over so I
shouted in a high pitched voice "Joe!!!" people laughed at me
lol. The video camera was presented on more than one occasion, Joe held
it dead on me at the end I'm sure of it! Being a gentleman of course
Dave picked up all the stuff that were thrown on stage (a shirt and a
hat). They left the stage leaving a fully satisfied crowd.
The next
half hour was the playing of commercial rock/punk/metal groups while the
lil kids ran around throwing water at eachother, posters and CDs were
being given away from this booth at the back. Why I hung around for this
I don't know, I think I just had a feeling it was gonna be worth it.
Indeed of which it was! "Inme are gonna be signing at the t-shirt
booth" was the announcent from the DJ. A stampeed of young girls
proceeded down the stairs to the said destination. I qued for like 10
mins with my red Inme top I had purchased a few mins before. When I
finally got to the front before I knew it I was face to face with Dave,
my jaw must have been all the way to the floor cuz for a second I didn't
know what to say without sounding dumb.
"Thanks for the show it was a good one."
"Thanks" he smiled.
Then Simon came to sign it
"Thanks"
He just smiled at me.
Then as Joe was signing it I spotted a video camera that a group of
people had behind the desk that was pointed right at me (probably
friends of theirs). So I pulled a silly face into it cuz I was being
squashed be the legions of fans pushing me into this chest high desk.
Both Dave and Simon and the group laughed at this.
"Are you ok?" Dave asked
"Yeah I'll be alright. You must come here again soon!"
"Will do!" Dave replied.
And
then that was it, my 2 mins with them. I then flung myself out of the
crowd passing the shirt to my mate. Half my body was still in the rabble
of fans though so I offered my two arms to my sis who them pulled me out
which resulted in more laughter from the desk.
So that was it my tail from
the RockCity, I have pulled a muscle in my leg because all my weight was
upon it for like 2 hours so I'm now just a limping poor but happy 18
year old fan who has now locked her prized t-shirt away only to be
brought out on special occasions (mainly when I'm feeling down and need
cheering up). All I can say is thanx to everybody involved with the show
you've certainly made my life worth living again! xxx
