BACKGROUND

Study program of Nutrition and Feed Science (NFS) is one of the study program within the Department of Animal Nutrition and Feed Science, Faculty of Animal Science, Bogor Agricultural University. Since 1963 to 1994, the Faculty of Animal Science had only one study program of Animal Sciences and the Department of Nutrition and Feed Science serves the students who are their major and interested in nutrition and feed science. The NFS study program was established in the beginning of the academic years of 1994/1995, on 30 November 1994 (The decree of Ministry of Education and Culture, No. 0411/U/1994). At the same time, other study programs were established in the Faculty of Animal Science. The Animal Production Technology and the Socio Economic study program. The NFS study program started with a limited attendance of 14 students. Yearly student enrollment increased sharply in the last two years and the student registered in the study program was 308 students in 2001. The first graduates were inaugurated in September 1998.
The Department of nutrition has a professional study program of Feed Industry and Technology (D3) and three sub-programs of postgraduate level (S2/S3). Both study programs are self sufficiency.

Vision
To be a center of excellence in education, research and public services in nutrition and feed resources and relevant technologies dedicated to sustainable animal industries, agriculture and national development.

Mission
To implement modern higher education to produce highly qualified graduates who are capable of utilizing local feed resources, developing animal industries, and have good sense of enterpreneurship in the global market.
