True Friends VS Misguided Friends
*
The Companions were told that , In the After Life, one will be with the person he loves.
So IF we love and associate ourselves with those who are misguided, we should fear where we will end up in the After Life. But If we love and associate ourselves with those who guided [and inshaAllah those who are granted heaven], then Indeed, Allah's messenger said that we will be with those who we love.
A person came to the presence of the Holy Prophet (SAWS) and said: "O Prophet of Allah (SAWS), a person loves a pious man for his piety, yet himself does not emulate the good deeds of this pious man, how shall he be treated in the next world?" The Prophet (SAWS) replied: "It does not matter at all. Man shall find himself in the company of that person who he loves." (Bukhari)
If we are really concerned about where we will end up, we should realize that those who take us away from remembering Allah REGULARLY, from Obeying Him; those who don't remind us about our prayers, and who do not give us sincere Islamic advice ..they are not really our true friends-And if we come to love them--and if they are misguided and doomed in the After Life [Wallahu A'lam](and we should be careful) --
Then indeed we will be with those we love.
*
True Friends will always remind you of God; he or she will remind you to perform your daily prayers, he or she will support you when you fast and he will remind you to pay zakat and do good deeds. He or she will remind you to behave in the way that is most pleasing to Allah (SWT). He or she is not perfect...but He or she will fear God and guide you inshaAllah. When you love a believer because he is good, you love him for the sake of Allah and for people who love each other for the sake of Allah (SWT)..there is great reward.

"There
are some loyal servants of ALLAH who, though they are neither prophets nor
martyrs, yet they shall be elevated to such high status by God on the Day of
Judgement that the Prophets and martyrs will envy their good fortune." The
illustrious companions (May ALLAH be pleased with them) submitted: "O
Prophet of ALLAH (SAWS)! Who will be these
fortunate people?" The Holy Prophet (SAWS) affirmed: "These will be the people who loved each
other on the basis of the religion of God - they were not related to one another
by blood, nor had any commercial connection with each other. I swear by God, the
faces of these people will be glowing with radiance nay they will be the emblems
of pure light. When all the people shall be trembling with fear, they shall be
free from fear. When all the people will be grief-stricken, the shall know no
sorrow." [ Tabrani] Afterwards, the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings of
ALLAH be upon him) recited this verse of the Holy Quran:
"Lo! verily the friends of Allah are (those) on whom fear
(cometh) not,
nor do they grieve." [10: 62]"

Allah said "Friends on that Day will be enemies to one another, except al-Muttaqood [those who have taqwah]" [43:67]

Ibn Katheer commented on this verse with story on the authority of Ali {RA} that any friendship for other than Allah (SWT) is turned into enmity, except what was in it for Allah the Might and Majestic [this is a meaningful story]:
Two who are friends for Allah's sake; one of them dies and is given good news that he will be granted Jannah, so he remembered his friend and he supplicated for him saying: O Allah my friend used to command me to obey You and to obey Your Prophet (SAWS) and used to command me to do good and to forbid me from doing evil. And he told me that I will meet You. O Allah, do not let him go astray after me, until you show him what you shown me, until you are satisfied with him, just like you are satisfied with me." So he is told: "Had you known what is [written ] for your friend, would you have laughed a lot and cried a little."" Then his friend dies and their souls are gathered, and both are asked to express their opinions about each other. So each one of them says to his friend: you were the best brother , the best companion and the best friend."
And when one of the two disbelieving friends dies, and he is given tidings of Hellfire, he remembered his friend and he said: O Allah, my friend used to order me to disobey You and disobey Your Prophet, and commanded me to do evil, and forbade me from doing good, and told me that I would not meet You. O Allah, do not guide him after me, until you show him what you have just shown me and until you are dissatisfied with him just like you are dissatisfied with me" Then the other disbelieving friend dies, and their souls are gathered, and both are asked to give their opinions about each other. so each one says to his friend: you were the worst brother, the worst companion and the worst friend."
Ya Allah! make us of the righteous ones and give us companions that will take us away from His Wrath and lead us to His Pleasure and Paradise
